Welcome to our adopt-a-trail reports section for Holcomb Creek Trail in the San Bernardino National Forest, just outside of Fawnskin, California. On average, many in our group of now 60+ head out once a month during the spring, summer and fall to patrol, clean up and check for maintenance needs. What do we need from you? By Ryan – Our Trail Maintenance day on the Holcomb Creek trail began with our safety meeting at the Valero gas station.

On the way we were pleased to see that the west end fence was still in place. At the end of 2N06X we ran into Greg and some FJ’s taking their lunch break.

Report from Nick and Kurt: Saturday started off really nice with a full morning of planting trees with over 100 volunteers showing up, and according to Tree People, approx. 1200 trees were put into the ground. Quality work too!
Report from Chuck and Nick – After the tree planting Nick, Kurt, Ryan, Cathy, Alycia, and I headed over to 2N84 to check out the conditions.
After the way the day started I though for sure we wouldn’t get much done. Randy and Carmen’s Jeep broke early on and had to be towed to town for repairs. Jim towed them so they both left for the day. Thanks guys for coming and we hope you got home safely. During the hubbub […]
Thanks to Art, Chuck, Nick, and Tom for their hard work lifting and moving rocks. In total we moved approximatley 7,000-10,000 lbs for rocks to fill 5 gabion baskets.
Congratulations to the MJR trail crew for a “First Place in Hours” award and the forest “Conservation Award!”
WOW! Another great workday in the books. Thanks to everyone who came out to help – you guys rock! We all met at the gate around 9am, then Doug and Nick led the safety briefing and plan for the day.

On Friday, October 10th, Nick and Barb (USMC0369) and myself (RAT) did a prerun inspection of 3N93 in preparation for the October 18th run, which is building up to be the biggest yet.
