I just wanted to forward this messege we (capovalley4wheelers) received from Ginger Hughes @ Cal Assoc of 4 Wheel Drive Clubs. Please do not quote me personally on this, but I felt like I had to post it. Maybe worth a little research.

      Subject: high Water

El Dorado County Supervisor Sweeney has received word from SMUD that
there is a high probability that, between now and June 14th, the spillway at Loon
      Lake will overflow causing flooding.

People using the Rubicon Trail during the time period may become stranded
      or unable to return home.

Please help get the word out so that everyone is aware of this potential
      situation.

      Julianne van Leeuwen
      Assistant to Supervisor Jack Sweeney
El Dorado County Board of Supervisors
      District III

      Thanks

      Don Klusman

That is for June. The trip is in July. The problem will be gone.

Didn't they make it by reservation only and limit the number of jeeps on the trail - or has that started yet?

              Rubicon Spider Lake Private Property
              Closed to All Access
The land owners of the private property on the east side of Spider Lake have closed this property/area to all access. The signs are pretty straight forward, saying Keep Out and they mean it. This closure will continue until a property management program can be implemented to protect the rights of the private property land owners.

This property management system needs to address sanitation, resource damage, controlled access and proper camping facilities. It is possible that Merlin Scott will be camped/located at Spider this summer (rather than Rubicon Springs). Please adhere to this legal property closure. Friends of the Rubicon encourages you to be part of the solution to our on-going issues around Spider Lake, and to help us keep the private property land owners happy.

There is no camping on or access to the private property on the east side of Spider Lake. Please obey the signs.

Not sure. If I go I would probably want to do the entire trail and stop at Rubicon Springs for an extra day. If you are set up this isn't a problem. Also looking into a run with bachman.

Questions: Do we need a fire permit(s)? What about forest adventure passes? I'm sure I'll think of more....
