  • If no one steps up I can call a couple of buddies up there and see if one of them will lead us.

I agree with Skylar about splitting equipment up. No sence in having 12 camp stoves, 12 lanterns, 12 high lift jacks, 12 tool sets, etc. Will need someone to coordinate who's bringing/hauling what though so we have everything covered.

    • Confirm 12-15th.
I always have a hi-lift on the jeep and straps.

      • I know I will be in CA during this time, so hopefully we can get some tow rigs to leave together.

        • I'll be towing my Jeep there and back. Someone said something about going over to Tahoe first and parking our tow vehicles in a secure camp ground and then driving to the trailhead in Georgetown? If thats the plan I'm thinking we might as well drive up hwy 395 then?

          • So what is the actual distance from Tahoe to Georgetown via the hwy?

            • I think it's about 100 miles.

                • Is the plan to leave LA on the 12th and return the 15th? or be on the trails those days. I have no issues taking the time off but need to know what the plan is

                    It's only a 20' trailer. I don't think 2 will fit. I should've bought a longer trailer, huh?

I am thinking of the 395 as well. It is more scenic than the 5. About 1/2 way (36 miles) between South Lake Tahoe and Placerville on Hiway 50 is Ice House Road, another popular route into Loon Lake. It would shave 46 miles over going all the way around to Georgetown.

                            • Anyone going on this trip have a onboard welder?

                              • I've got a fairly compact 110v stick welder that I could bring, but I have no clue if I could hook it up to the battery system or not. Probably no??
