Hey guys, I have a question. I think it's my exhaust that is making the transmission too hot... how do I fix this? I don't want to lower my exhaust pipe as it gets beaten up enough as it is. Is there a thicker transmission pan or something I can use to keep the heat away from the transmission? Perhaps my exhaust is routed incorrectly, as I don't hear about this problem from other YJ owners.

I doubt that the exhaust is contributing that much to the tranny temp, but it might be. How about a heat shield? A piece of sheet metal mounted in between the exhaust pipe and the tranny.Resistance Off Road

Oh Nick, you don't know the can o'worms I'm about to open. I have been putting off pulling the tranny to fix a leak and to see what a 140k mile clutch, plate, and thrust bearing look like. While that whole mess is out I just might take a peek inside the T/C. I've got noises that I've narrowed down to the transmission area and I'm not surprised that something inside hasn't grenaded out of the side of the case. I haven't been easy on the whole shebang and I think I'm starting to pay for it.

Alternatively, if I put my fingers into the wiring...evil is waiting to trip me up."Death Smiles at Everyone... Marines Smile Back."

I told 6spdYJ I'd take a picture of my dash with the Autometer guage in it. It's not pretty, but it works. I'd recommend a new gauge cluster if you're going to replace anything. They're not as expensive as my route.
