• Stone Cabin
    • St. Louis Mine

Here's one of the stops on the run:

Christian (Head Hunter) & I spent countless hours going over various maps, GPS programs and we spent two Saturdays working out the route! I really appreceiate working with him! Thanks Christian.

This will cover most of the Calico Area and will probably entice you to come back and explore some of the areas we will pass through, but we won't have time to check out. Christian & I were talking about coming back on a future camping trip and explore some of the areas we saw.

If you are planning on joining us on this run, it would be helpful if you would let me know.

Two weeks to go!! Can't wait!!

        • It was a real pleasure working with Roger to put together a run that we won't get lost on!

Quite a few tries where taken to find the best stocker route from Bismark Mine to The Cabin. We wandered up and down countless routes all over the area to find something that would cut through. We did some really cool exploring that took us to places that we might otherwise not have seen.

We wound up discovering a long way, which was quite scenic. However, we were determined to find another shorter route.

It took hours of studying Google Maps, plotting many GPS waypoints and printing out screen shots of Satellite images to find the most efficient way to The Cabin that would not tear up our stock rigs. The shorter route we finally found is very scenic and a little more challenging than the long route, while still being appropriate for stockers.

My thought is that this will become a standard run for me to take people with new Jeeps on for their first off road experience in the desert. It's got a great deal of variety on it and begins to show someone what a Jeep is really capable of. It's a great stepping stone for eventually doing harder trails that would require a little more experience.

I have not yet figured out which will be the soonest day I'll be able to come out, but I look forward to camping with you all and meeting those of you I haven't had an opportunity to meet before.

I will be going on the stocker run as well. The other part of the trail will be a parking lot with all the different groups out there.

                    • We might go? Not sure if we're going drag the toy hauler out though? If we do we may stay out by the road. My Dodge sits a little low in the front.

Your truck and trailer can easily got to the camp site. I was there last weekend and the road in Mule Canyon is in good shape. You'll just need to go a little slow!

                        • There will probably be about 5 or so motorhomes out there that I know of. You should have no problem getting the toy hauler out there.

If you get stuck, I know of some folks with a few Jeeps that can get you out

                          • Thanks, I'll probably give it a try. I've taken it back in there once before with a different trailer.

Should be bringing 2 Jeeps with us.

                            • Is anyone else interested in leading a run? Please PM/Email me and I'll get you on the schedule. Rick and I won't be directing everyone to Odessa/Doran this year - his jeep is down and mine needs some work. Thanks!
