  • Here we are again at assembly number 4... One last time to do final fit and finish doing little things like roll cage frame tie ins. Next we take it apart again, sand and paint the frame and underside of the tub with Chassis saver. Then it's time to reassemble AGAIN! How much fun. But detailing takes time. And I'm blue printing the entire build. PITA.

      • Finally we start painting and reassembling this pig. I'm putting enough lipstick on it that it might just look good. If it works I'm headed to DC to work on Moochie...
Pics are kinda shitty. I was still in paint gear and in a hurry. I'll get some better ones up this weekend. Chassis Saver Black. Very shiny, very hard. Should hold up well. The frame, underside of tub and most of the inside of the tub along with the fire wall will be painted with this stuff.

Should have the rest of the chassis painted this weekend. Will be putting the axles back in Sunday and hopefully have a rolling chassis again Sunday night.

              • Wow this Chassis Saver paint is awesome. It goes on like a coat of latex in one application. There is a lot of black here. Just sayin...

Only working today (Saturday) this weekend so a rolling chassis is out of the question but it is ready to go back together as soon as the paint dries. I am planning on having the body work completed, have the whole beast primed and ready for paint by 2nd week of May if not sooner. All depends on corporate BS.

                Befores:

Still wet, but it will look like this when it dries. One coat application. HVLP 35 PSI delivery, .1 tip. 12"-16" distance.

Now wait three hours for it to dry enough to handle, flip the axles and paint the bottoms.

                  • We started re-assembling the CJ today. Still waiting on some new knuckles for the front axle so it won't be a roller quite yet but as soon as they come in and get installed it will be on tires again. The Chassis Saver really made a difference and the CJ looks really clean. And black. But the gold JJ's look like ghetto bling now...

The garage started out looking like this today

Time to finish body work, fit aluminum corners and do all the little things like brake lines, air lines, shocks. Then turn to the engine and get it cleaned up and painted. It's coming together.

Actually yes Daniel. You can brush it on. It goes a long way using a spray gun though. If we had brushed it on, I'm not sure 1 gallon would have covered all that we did with it.

                              • This weekend was sort of slow but we did get plenty done. Mostly body related stuff like the corners and door assemblies. Got the Reid knuckles installed.

Had to see what the 37's look like. The wheel is not on the hub but several inches away. Thats why it sticks WAYYY out.

Nick a great cut job. Minimal finish work required.

First cut on the door section of the corner armor. Going to make it blend with the body contours after I get the doors figured out.

I will have the hinges finished tonight. Then cut a new door skin. Next weekend we'll finish the corners and make door frames.
