I was really tempted to pull the cover on that transfer case when it was here. We did a little test an left the hubs unlocked, put it in front wheel drive hi and it would spin no problem. front wheel drive low, let the clutch out real slow and serious clunking. Seems like one clunk per revolution, seemed very consistent but we only let it go a couple of clunks. Curious to look in there and see what busted.
Seems to me one the gears for low range needs a tooth implant. In highrange there would be no load on those gears hence no noise

      • Yeah, it seems to be isolated to the low range gear. I am wondering how/why since Brett doesn't usually beat in it too hard. The Dana 20 is usually pretty tough. Not assembled correctly? Bad parts? Just curious. Those brono 20s seem to be getting rare, are there aftermarket gears for them?

        • Idler low speed gear or rear sliding? Novak.

            • Have Jonah take a look under the Unloader and see what he can come up with. He is pretty darn good with creative thinking.

You can always swing by my house also for some measuring, looking and drawing. I am positive it can be done

              • Brett I believe they modified Cliffs Gen-right gas tank for his jeep.

I think I know where you might get a good deal on a 2012 JKUR.

                  • Thanks toolman, I am good for a while I like my lil YJ... I do have a buddy looking to buy a Rubicon though... so feel free to still send me the details.

                    • well my YJ has been back with Haik this week. Apparently I sheered off three teeth off of the low range gear in Parker, AZ. Good thing Haik has some old Dana 20's on the shelf and he is just putting humpty dumpty back together again. Haik is also rebuilding the rear ARB so hopefully I stop puking gear oil all over our beautiful country side as I am wheeling around. He is also fabbing up and finishing the skid plate for the ram. I hope to have her back next week in time for IDTTD or whatever the acronym is.

So I don't know if yall have met my lady friend Cynthia:

                      Cynthia is fun

                      She has an 03 Rubicon:

She likes to play the stereo loud... but she played it too loud for too long

So Brett is nice and Brown Santa came today:

                      and delivered these lil goodies:

I will be playing around most of tonight trying to install her goodies. I am still waiting on the last set of speakers to replace the ones in the sound bar. The amp was just a "weee" bit bigger than I thought to drive her replacement factory sub... but oh well... she will be loud again!!!

                        • Now I have to start thinking about my own stero... here is what I am thinking:

my old set up had my amp behind the rear seat but I am taking that out to put in a tray across the bottom of my YJ in the next month or so:
                          http://www.tuffyproducts.com/p-181-f...at-drawer.aspx

i am leaning towards going with this in the front:
                          http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...A2IO25XLSN41ME
                          with these speakers:
                          http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER
my only concern is will it fit because of my Klune shifter and after market AC:
                          http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...0106-01013.jpg

                          in the back:
                          http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER
                          with these speakers:
                          http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...A1SX1R00E2EUMR

now I have to figure out the base. I gave my old 10" sub/bazooka tube combo to Cnythia. I bought her a 6.5" sub to replace the blown one in her center console but now that she is going to be using my old set up we have this left over:
                          http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I think I am going to just use this and find a box for it...
I will try to mount my old amp under my drivers seat and the box behind.
This may be a simple box:

                          • swung by Harbor Freight on the way home from work today to pick up a Dremel to do this:
                            http://www.wranglerforum.com/f5/tj-f...iy-196375.html
                            To Cynthia's Rubicon

I ended up buying $150 worth of needed items

Then I was hungry and went here:

While I was waiting for my pizza I had 15 minutes to burn so why not start playing with my new toys:

                            went kind of like this:

                            Yummm.. pizza!!!

                            ended up with:

I only forgot a double male end to connect the hose to the thingy that clips to the valve stem. Jonah gets all the credit for already building this contraption. I just copied his. Now I will be able to fill my tires and not have to switch from air gauge to filler hose and back and forth until the air pressure is right Thanks again Jonah for the idea.

                            • Curious, was it a spur type gear that broke? Those are normally considered the Dana 20's weakness.
