My axles have never been a weak point for me. It's been the transmission. that too will come to pass.

I seem to remember the RAT sitting on its nose in a certain parking lot... both front tires at odd angles... maybe not an axle issue exactly, but damn I wish I had that picture again... :devil: awesome build, as we have come to expect!

I would think that whatever weight is gained would be outweighed by the added strength? Being able to hammer/bump harder when needed.

How does the added weight help you when you're chugging up the Grapevine ? It's been a topic for a while but can't pull the trigger, I like my jeep as a jeep, I'm afraid of it turning into a trailer queen. D60's + 40" Tires + Full Hydro = Trailer queen. But I sooooo want all of that. Even if it's still street legal I doubt anyone would drive to Tahoe run the Rubicon and drive home in it. My 44's have been very good to me and I hate to change them out and regret it when driving up to Big Bear or Barstow over the summit going 25 mph. Sorry to hi jack this thread Kurt I've been on the fence for so long now and to see you make the jump (which has always been the plan) makes me want to rethink stretching my legs and gaining some weight. So I'm eagerly waiting pictures and updates

I'm not going full hydro. Will still run 37s and drive to trails all over the place. If I get 40s they'll be for jv and stuff like that. This jeep will NEVER be a trailer queen.

I have a trailer and the Rat gets towed in certain instances but will never require a trailer to get anywhere. I don't need 40s to do what I like to do. If I put them on it will be for the hardest stuff out there. Otherwise the 37s work just fine.

Full width. Not gonna cut the tubes unless I absolutely have to and I don't see that being an issue. 5.3 would be nice. Maybe someday. I had a line on a Commander that was totalled. Hemi complete with computer and exhaust all the way back. Insurance didn't work out and it went to the parts yard. I was really bummed. But I saw another one on a trailer on it's way somewhere. Flattened top and smashed in rear end. They are out there now.
