    • Finally getting around to making some hard aluminum doors for the Rat. I'm using the steel tube doors I have now as templates. I've had to make a few design changes along the way but I think I can still do what I want and have the top windows fit without issue. The door in these pics is the template. I hope the finished doors come out as nice. Still a lot of finish work to do.

I found some door seal rubber that fits this like it was made for it. It will be nice not to have a tornado in the cab while driving now.

              • Considering the average price of these doors from vendors is $375-$600, I can be competitive on price on a small production run. If I get enough real order s ill make a batch.

                • Got to play a little after work today. I made forward assist latches for the doors. No more twisting around or unzipping windows to get out of the Jeep. They work nicely.

There will be an inside panel as well with storage. The lever will have a full on handle when the inside panel is attached.
Should have these done next week depending on work and stuff..

EDIT: So, a field test this past weekend exposed a flaw in the design. I have to start trusting my fist instincts; the forward guide I made is too tight and doesn't allow the door to close consistently. So I will pop these guides out and go with my first design. Harder to make but but in the end a better way to do it. Short cuts don't always work damn it.

Yes. Those are Best Top half doors. I'm using those as a template. Once I get the first door finished the tube door will go back to being a tube door. I'll post pics once I get the inside of the door finished. Probably next week. Worky worky...

                        • More "stuff"...
I've been running the stock D44 diff cover for years with no damage, but wanted to try my hand at making a 1/4" thick cover. It turned out ok. Some things I'll do diff-erent on the one for the rear, but all in all not very diff-icult to make. The blue clamp I made for the ram assist because having the mount welded to the tie rod makes setting toe-in a bitch.

As soon as the rest of the aluminum plate comes in I'll finish my doors. Then what????
