Pour as many rocks as you like to make it over whatever you like without some Jeep Club whinning about making it too easy, do what ya have to .....they can move them out just as easy as you moved them in.....
That's one way of looking at this, but is it constructive? Or does it put us in a bad light with the parties involved? Attitudes have to change or we're in for more of this kind of stuff. Tam is doing alot to get this resolved, so keep it positive, please. Thanks.

And that my friend, is where youre wrong. The closure IS on Regional Park land. If we want to resolve this, we need to work with the Regional Park, which is what Im doing.

Im meeting with all parties involved (BLM, County, Regional Park Dept and Calico Regional Park) in person next week.

Ill let you now what our next steps are.

      • I see that someone is asking about the barriers. When I saw it almost 4 weeks ago it was the several boulders about 4 to 5 feet around lined up from one side of the trail to the other. They did line them up so that a jeep would have to drive up the side of the trail, but I think that would cause any jeep to roll over. This barrier is right at the bottom of the bypass as it starts up to the top going through the really twisted turns. I hope that made sense for those who have driven it. I don't see how a jeep could go over the boulders as it was only one row deep and I could easily see any jeep high centering on it. Besides, Kodiak has a point, we should abide by what they have closed down, and not contribute to the reason why it was shut down. I am going through my pics from that weekend but I don't think I took any.

Kodiak, this trail wasn't closed by crazy kids. A Calico Ghost Town employee has confirmed it to me that when they graded the new entrance into Calico Ghost Town, they had the heavy equip opperators go to that side of the property to close the bypass road. This was the cheapest way to keep the unwanteds out of the north campground. The barrier is on Park land therefore trying to appease the Regional Park and come up with a solution that everyone agrees to is our number one goal.

          • MJR will be out there to help if it's 115, or 15 below. One of the many reasons I love this group of people is because we don't just talk. If resolution to this is pushed out to mid-July, I'll be there to help.

Haha... it's very highly possible that Calico will be 115* by mid-July!

Its an odd way to agree with me. (preaching to the choir)

I wont need to police thousands of OHV users because we intend on coming up with a reasonable resolution that we can all adhere to.

                  • Id like to start a discussion of ideas on how to barricade the area so that no one can enter the Regional Park, while still allowing full access to the bypass.

                    Thanks for your input.

How did that work out? Were they cut and planted upright like posts or were they layed on their sides? Got any pics?

I'll check on the availability of railroad ties when I'm up there next week.

                              • Nice! I wonder if a local supplier would "donate" some railroad ties in exchange for some publicity... or at least give a good price.

Those suckers are over 8' long. We'd need a way to transport them.
