    Mark,
Yes, feel free to use the letter, it was a collaboration. Some of the info originally was written by Tam. Use it, add to it, or edit at your leisure.

I just got off the phone with San Bernardino County Representative Jesse Flores.

He was very receptive to helping us reopen the bypass, and hopes to have some resolution by next week. He has referred me to County Regional Park director Tom Potter. I hope to hear from him today yet.

Ive offered to take them out on the trail, as well as offered our services to block the trail in an appropriate location. He was very very receptive. He also mentioned that he had been innundated with emails (GREAT JOB EVERYONE!)

      Ill post more later.

that is excellent news to hear Tam. Hope the info next week is just as good for the sake of the Jeepers. To all those that sent emails, keep spreading the news and keep up with the emails.

Tom Potter's Assistant (Director of Regional Parks) called me. She said that Mr Potter would call me on Monday.

I reiterated what I told Jesse Flores. I explained the reasons why I thought the closure happened, and offered the manpower to place the barrier at a more appropriate location. - also explained our involvement in the SBNFA AAT program.

Ill post more when I hear from him next week.

I just got off the phone with Beverly at the Regional Park office.

She sent me a map of the area, wanting to know where the bypass was. Her map was a little too simple. It showed the road leading from Doran Canyon to Calico, but not the ridge road we drive.

This was my reply to her:
Im working on the map you sent.

Here is the map I posted on our board:

                  http://www.myjeeprocks.com/forums/ga...ellite_map.jpg

Point A is the entrance of the by-pass from Doran Canyon.

Point B is the actual by-pass trail that runs along the ridge/cliff line over Doran Canyon.

Point C is the Gatekeeper/Lower Doran Canyon.

Point D is one of the campgrounds/bathrooms at Calico Ghost Town

The trail is noted as a dashed line on your map, it connects Doran Canyon to Calico Regional Park. The actual trail that runs along the ridgeline is not on your map.

Im also including a picture of the Doran Canyon Entrance, known as the "Gatekeeper", which is nearly impassable without severe body damange. Even though most will never drive it, it is considered to be Doran Canyons crown jewel. Only the truly brave and experienced drivers will tackle it.

In fact, there was a write-up in the Victor Valley Daily Press newspaper about it yesterday http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...p/100_0507.jpg

Does anybody have a pic of the trail closures? What are the barricades made out of?

In the original post it says "the one to the right at the bottom now has several boulders lined up across the trail."

That just doesn't sound like a barrier to me I know that a little farther up the trail, there is a barrier made with railroad ties. Are there new closure signs at the bottom or just rocks?

Ask her for a legal description of the land that the county administers. That way we can map the county boundary on a topo map and see where the actual over lap occurs.

shadley1, we all git what yer sayin' but rollin' over the obsticles is not gonn a be good for us. The whole respect thing is in play there. I would like to see something legitamite that says the trail (by-pass) is closed, or open, because if some crazy kids just stacked some rocks to mess with us that would suck... but untill we get some official word otherwise we have to call it closed.

as for my post about FJ's and H3's and people paving the trail... I am just having sum fun there, I know they are capable rigs and good people...
:gun: my rifle is not illegal, it's just undocumented... :gun:

It would help if someone near Calico could snap a few pictures of the closure.

                                Thanks
