          Kat,
We were out on the Mojave Trail. Last night in camp we pulled into a lava flow/sand wash. One killer camp site for sure. The hawk had a chick in a nest about 75 yards from us in a niche in the lava cliff. Chuck and I tried all evening to get some good shots of her, but the next morning our efforts paid off in those pictures. I was so suprised when I downloaded these I couldn't believe it. As chuck said, one sweet photo shoot trip!

                  Nick,
those were taken with the 15-55 mm lens that came with my Rebel XT. It's the same one Barb has on hers. I just stitched 4 photos together to make those two pics. You can tell in the top pic because there is a line in the sky, one side is darker than the other. I just rushed through it but you can work all that out so the photo looks seamless.

It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.

                            Brittany,
Yes, that was fun to watch. That little mocking bird had balls of steel; he was all over the hawk, and the hawk finally gave up her perch and went over to the other sieed of the canyon. Next time we run Mojave trail I'll make sure you're invited!

                            • A friend of ours (Samdog 3 on our local forum) died a few months ago, and weekend before last some of us mounted a memorial plaque in his memory on his favorite trail. I really like the way some of these pictures came out so I thought I'd share them.

These pictures are of my husband teaching some of Samdog's close friends how to weld; everybody got a chance to weld part of the plaque.
