That's a great deal indeed. I know John, and can only shave a couple of bills off that price, especially if its already set up with brackets and mounts. You will never regret this mod whatsoever. I'm very familiar with the install if you have any ???'s.
Thanks! It's coming off a 2002 TJ, so it "should" be a straight bolt in. weeee heeeeee
It's a pretty good deal, I think it saves you almost a grand from their new item cost. The brakes are pretty expensive from Currie, about $400 I think. The Currie 9 is actually cheaper than a 44 from them. I was quoted about $2900 with drum brakes on a regular pinion 9. And it's a better axle than the 44. That's about as heavy duty of an axle as you can get for a TJ!
The WARN front shafts are fine, just get the inners too, either from them or superior, Alloy USA. BTW, Redrock4x4 has a good deal on that stuff if you need some more bits and pieces to finish it.
You do have the SYE and CV driveshaft already, right?
BTW all, I have a line on HP30 housings for $250. Think I'll pick one up for down the road, and build it up with an ARB and HD stuff.
The word BUGGER springs to mind. You could always find a straight junkyard housing then truss it and re-use your super 35
Yes, that is an option. I hate to put more $ into the D35 and still worry about breaking it. Or I could swap the guts into a good housing and sell it. My Jeepwad mechanic says swap the guts into a new housing and keep it in the garage. Go and get a killer 9" then if/when you sell the jeep you can keep the axle for the next project.
I might just bite the big one and get a Currie HP 9"
You're right. If I spend more $ on the D35, it's still a D35 and I'll break it sooner or later. There's nothing worse than being a big girlie on the trail 'cos you're afraid of bending something.
I think I am going for the Currie HP 9", 35 spline, disc brakes, Detroit, 4.56 (so I don't have to mess with the sharp end) 5 on 4.5 (same) anything else to consider?
