        John,

Happy to see the jeep is back, could have been alot worse (Still Sucks!). If you told Garvin your story and they won't help, please let us know. I would love to call them and let them know what I think about their support for off-roaders in need and what product I will buy when It's my turn to buy a tire carrier system.

          Garvin Industries

Thanks Mitch.....I called them directly and explained what happened and was told it only comes as a set, sorry, end of call.:angry::angry:

          Two things:

          1. My insurance did not cover things so that tells me "hey, stupid, make a change".......Progressive will no longer insuring my vehicles.

          2. I will not be buying Garvin Industries for replacements.

I would fight the insurance company too. Most policies allow for "some" aftermarket items.....

I think that I need to double check with my agent :0

I'd say it's bull. I thought that if you have receipts and the items are bolted on the vehicle, the insurance company would cover it. At least that's what they told me (note to self, look into this), but I know a few people who had their aftermarket stuff covered. You might be out the Powertank, tools, Jerry can since it wasn't technically bolted on, but the rest they should cover. BTW, your TJ originally came with a spare, so have the insurance co pay for it.

You have to push them and not take their first offer. The insurance wants to pay the least, so they'll lowball you. You have to keep pushing them. First of, do not accept used parts, only OEM and new, period. Different story, but my wife was rear ended and the insurance co tried to sneak a few used parts in the estimate. After speaking to a friend of mine who is a trainer for a major insurance company, and I called them back and rose the biggest stink. I also contacted my agent and told him to get off his butt and fight for me or I was going to take my business somewhere else (3 vehicles and home). All of a sudden, I had all new OEM parts on my truck. Fancy that.

Progresive: ask to talk to a supervisor! Seriously! Firm , persistant but calm wins.

Garvin: Ask to speak to the Owner! Seriously!

Extras that progressive wont cover: Homeowners insurance!

Gald to see you actually got it back. A little lighter maybe, but you got it back! Seems there is a boom of Jeep rip offs lately. Who'd a thunk it?

Just read about your loss... But glad you got it back.

That really does suck. Just some info on insurance company's. I have AAA and I walked in the other day with all of my receipts for my upgrades to my jeep. They told me to just hold on to them and if anything happens to the jeep just show them the receipts and they will cover it.

There is a guy in Lucerne Valley the builds great bumpers, tire carriers, racks & etc. I'm sure he could build up from your bumper exactly what you want, I'm sure it would be less than buying a whole new bumper & tire carrier. You may have seen his decals on vehicles; "Otwell". I can send you his number if you are interested, I know LV kind of far from HB.

i have progressive and their is an option on my policy to add a specified dollar amount of "aftermarket items" that can be covered for theft or accident.

although i've been hearing lots of things i don't like about most policies/jeeps and i will be reading my fine print very soon to see if i will be switching to a better provider...

best of luck, and look at the bright side at least you got the jeep back with only a few items missing. that's more than can be said for most people, and you don't even have to bring it to a body shop before you can drive it.
                        03 TJ. It'll go 65mph...can't complain.

Really? AAA just basically told you,"...don't worry about it, just save the proof..." ??
Better double check that or find it in writing...or just record your agent telling you that. I have experienced the "...oh yeah, you get this, this, and that...." And then when you need it or just call back in month or even a week and get a different person, they say,"...oh, no, that's not how we...and that can't be like that..."

I have State Farm, and I am going to check on it today. They already pulled a switcharooo with me....I had put my dual sport (enduro) on as my main vehicle, cause, well, it was/is. Made everything less expensive. Well, over a year and a half later....they decided that they will switch it to my 93 mustang(which sits in the garage), and put my bike and Jeep as secondaries. Well, that brought up my premiums...When I called, they simply just shut me down saying, "..my underwriters will not allow a motorcycle to be your main vehicle..." I asked, what if that's all I had was the bike? Personally, I think auto ins co's are a huge fraud of a business, they switch things on you with out your knowledge and then say...'oh...so n so didn't call you..." NOOOOOO, they didn't!!!

Back in the day, it was like what FireGuy is saying here...just provide the receipts, and we'll replace it. But, since so many people were telling their "buddies" to "steal" their car and then claim a better 'system' was in the car, they decided to charge extra for the s#!t that we put into it.

I say we band together, as Jeepers and offroaders, and start our own insurance company. Call it,

State Farm will cover anything aftermarket as long as you have the receipts. They will also cover accidents that occur off-road, which is something else many companies leave out. My wife works for State Farm so, naturally, that's who I have for all of my insurance.

This thread is definitely a good reminder for everyone to check what is covered and what is not by their respective insurance carrier.

Nipple Twister, glad you got it back in good condition. Yeah, it's missing a few things, but that's better than missing the whole thing.

THANKS Highway420 I will try and gather more info from AAA. Your right Ins. Co. are crooks. I had a vehicle stolen and FARMERS screwed me around for three months. When they realized I would not back down they gave me what I was asking Kelly Blue Book.
