But, you all know their number "911" when your girlfriend is throwing your clothes on the lawn or your wife heard a noise in the house:hide:. Turns out it's the cat in the tuna can.

Remember, when you move, DMV requires you to update your registration "VC 4160" just for this reason. Not being a PITA, just trying to avoid it from happening again.

Yes the cop'er told me it's the law to have your registration matching with current residence. I told him since I am a student, it was easier to send it home where it will not get mis placed. He said that was fine, but I should still change it.

got my jeep back last night. They pulled a new number out of their a$$ when I got there. Now cost me $241 to get it out, the officer even tried arguing for me Made a claim with my insurance and they are suppose to pay the difference after I pay the $100 deductible. Things are looking up.

NOW im looking into ghetto rigging my Jeep at night with a chain through wheel and onto frame so it wont move unless unlocked...

            Hey Mike,

Right. First part is spirit of the law, and second part is letter of the law.

It's funny how some insult someone's prefession, but they sure want their help in locating their stolen jeep. Or finding a loved one. Or even coming to their ad for help. Always interesting.

Those fines should heave been cheap compared to some of those toys you have added to your jeep. Chalk it up as one of life's lessons. Trust me, you will have more to come as you go along.

Ya, impound yards can be a pain. They make their own rules and fines sometimes.

That's a good idea. But, the chain isn't your weak link. It's the lock. Maybe try and find the gizmo we all bought on ebay for $25? If not, PM me and maybe you can rig up a cut off switch for the fuel to avoid that again. Let me know.

              What!?

are you saying I insulted the police officer that helped me?

Yes the fines are nothing compared to the time, sweat, $ and blood that has been poured into this Jeep of mine. You think I don't know that? I am bitter because this is the 4th time it has almost been stolen. I am suppose to be studying for mid terms and need to do well since I am graduating. Yes, I really don't have the $$ to bail my jeep out of jail because some a$$ hat decided they want my Jeep. So why don't you not state the obvious.

chalk it up as a life lesson? no shit, this is life lesson number 4. And yes I am aware there "is more to come" thanks for the heads up... are you the one interested in my Jeep?!

As for the "gizmo", if you had read my entire thread before commenting you would have known that after the first incident, I had installed two kill switches. Since then it has saved my Jeep 3 TIMES! this last time they were able to get it out of gear and roll it around the corner to further mess with the ignition.

              do I sound mad? yup:gun:

Your post was to vent. When that's over and you want some help PM me. You stated in post #1 you wanted to install some "cut off" switches "new theft devices". I can help. Offer still stands. Have a good day Mike.

I think he was trying to help you out by telling you to have your registration matching your current residence. I don't think he cares what is easier for you.

Did the officer lift fingerprints? I'm guessing not since you say they did not know the ignition was punched.

I agree with Jeep4cern. Disable the Jeep somehow. When I had my YJ I considered getting one of those detachable steering wheels but was unsure about them and never read any reviews about them but thought it sounded like a good idea at the time.

yea im looking into a Grant steering wheel. It is removable, but will also remove the air bag. Might be a good solution, but what would stop them from having two large clamps and wrench that allowed them to at least get it around the block? debate continues

                              now im just getting paranoid...
