I pull relays, starter and fuel pump, when I am somewhere I feel threatened. I think that a microlock would be the next best thing after that. as would be a sterring wheel disconnect. But all in all a professional could get it first try no matter what, it sounds like you are dealing with a amatuer however who wants it for joy riding so brakes and steering wheel sounds like the ticket.

No, but that's where we have the meet & greet, so I figured its 'central' enough that the turnout would be decent if'n somebody started messin' with his Jeep... :gun:

Well Im sad to say I have to update this post...

Walked out to my Jeep to drive to class today, no Jeep.

Im not gonna lie, a couple tears ran down my cheek while I spoke to San Diego PD. Those tears soon dried up from the the nice lady on the phone telling me the Jeep was impounded. Couldn't freakin' believe it! stoked, pissed, sad, anxious, relieved, angry.... are just a few emotions that were flowing through my head.

fast forward a bit, Jeep was reported to have been blocking the ally way in which I park adjacent to (towed at around 9:30am, which I was wide awake doing homework, no more than 30 yards from my Jeep). I have great (VanCo) brakes, and always leave my Jeep in gear. I have a designated parking spot behind our apartment building. This spot is somewhat difficult to get out of. You must make a 3 point turn to get out. When I back out (wheel fully cranked) I will not be able to become fully parallel to the ally, I will hit a fence.

talked to some construction guys that are working inside the above mentioned fence (who said they started work around 8am). No one said they saw the Jeep in my parking spot but said they did see it being towed later from slighty farther down the ally. Which meant it was moved far enough from it designated spot in a north/south direction that it was pushed moved by SOMEONE, and most likely panicked and ran.

After waiting an hour and a half at the tow yard for a police officer to come sort this out, he finally arrives. Probably the third sentence out of his mouth was "come on man, you gotta be kidding me. No one stole your vehicle. You probably came home last night after having a few and parked your car so it was hanging out into the ally." I was appalled. Told the officer "I requested the officer that called in the vehicle to be towed to meet me out here, not you. Can we go take a look at the Jeep and see if it was tampered with before you place judgments on me?" He agreed and threatened to call the officer and get "the real story"

After he observed the ignition lock being smashed, steering column panels missing, he was only slightly persuaded something else had happened. Basically everything was left with unanswered questions that him nor I could truthfully explain until the officer that called in the tow could be questioned.

Now all I can do is: be pissed off I dont have my Jeep, be pissed off that "best case scenario" I pay $180 tmr to get my jeep out... rather than the $360 they charge if the case is dismissed as being my fault, be pissed about missing my midterm, be pissed im missing on a lot a project re-work, cant drive anywhere to get school projects printed... but oh so glad I will have my jeep in a short time.

tough life having a desirable vehicle huh?

btw this is the 4th time my Jeep has almost been stolen.

          other things to ponder:
-officer said the jeeps doors were locked (which i rarely do for the obvious fact my windows can be unzipped) and was no visible force of entry.
rebuttal- at the yard, the officer opened the passenger door WITHOUT key. Windows can easily be unzipped. Who says the tow truck driver didn't get in the jeep to help steer it?

-where I park it would be tough to get a tow truck in there to tow it. Officer says they can drag anything, anywhere with there cable/tow lines.
-rebuttal- no visible tire marks of any vehicle being forced onto a flat bed.

Jeep must have been in a position where it was easy to get on a flat bed, which could only mean someone pushed it there.

wish me luck in the morning

Wow man, you need to move! Either that or just kill one thief and put his head on a stake a warning to others. So apparently the would-be thief couldn't start it? Sorry to hear you're getting the shaft from the system, but thank God the cops have it and not the unlicensed thieves.

That's terrible. I know that feeling you had when you first walked out and saw it gone. It's not a good one. I will never understand why when your vehicle is stolen and recovered you have to pay to get it out of the yard. Good luck.
                  Check out .

I agree with inVERt'd, you need to find another place with a garage or some kind of secured parking. I'm glad you got your jeep back. It's a shame all that you are going through.

moving is simply not an option for me right now. I am a student and this is my last semester before I graduate.

Maybe I should just go roll my jeep a couple of times and make it look like crap?

still have not been able to test out my aluminum baseball bat...

I wonder why the cops didnt call you or go to your house and knock on the door to inquire about the Jeep prior to towing it?

Good point, does the registration match your current address?

                              I appreciate the concern,

But this is yet one of several questions I had for the officer last night. He couldn't help since he was not the original officer that had the vehicle towed.

He did though, explain that since the vehicle is registered to me, but bills etc. go to my moms house in Pismo (since im in college and wont be down here for ever) that there was no attempt to contact owner. (why? not their job I was told)

Hypothetically, if this vehicle had been left without e-brake on, or some how is my fault, it would have drifted into the ally hitting a fence and would be in a perfect arc to my parking spot. It would have taken the officer just a few minutes to call our property agent (number is on front of building) and find out who rents that spot. Then they could proceed from there, either citing me for the infraction, or using their god damn eyes and see that the ignition was punched and was tampered with.... but who am I to be a CSI investigator? just a stupid college student that loves his Jeep more than ever.
