The axle quesion is another matter. I just can't bring myself to buy a D44; I hear people say D35's are weak, they break easy, but then I hear other people say they've ran 35" tires on D35's and had no problem. I realize a lot of it has to do with how agressive the driver is with the pedal. I'm looking into the Superior Super 35 kit or the Evolution series rear axle kit. The evolution comes with an ARB while the superior comes with a detroit. That way I could use the stock axle shafts as spares for the rubincon trip. I think?
Let me just say I love this website-everyone who gives opinions does it friendly!
4.10 gearing is actually perfect for the auto and 35's. I've been running it for over 2 years and it turns 3000 rpm's at 70 with plenty of extra power.Last edited by igofshn; 05-16-05, 09:51 PM.1994 Toyota, dual cases, 5.29 axles with ARB's

I broke one at CA City- look in gallery my 2nd page of pictures, it was not alot of fun. I had a lunch box locker and 33's. Lucky for me I had my car trailer with me and a winch to get me out of the rocks, if you don't install a locker it will last a while. Maybe?Last edited by tjTerry; 05-16-05, 09:55 PM.456's 2 lockers 4 disc brakes 8.8 lots of skid plates

Doing a u-turn? That's gotta suck. Thanks for all the responses. Anyone running an upgraded D35 wanna chime in? I'm really going back and forth on this.

My friend Kirk is running a Detroit in the D35 of his ZJ (4.0L auto 33s). Never heard him mention breaking anything in it (only front shafts) except for the control arm mounts and he has been wheeling it for awhile.Michael

If I was to do it all over again I would *not* put any $ into the D35. Back then I thought to myself, I'm never gonna' be doing crazy :poop:
Just *this* morning I was sitting at Starbucks and the PS rear wheel looks like it's on the piss. I'll take a closer look and report.Last edited by Dukes69; 05-17-05, 12:37 PM."your jeep looks so hot!!"

Thanks, guys. Please, more responses! I'm really leaning towards an upgraded D35. I've talked to people in the auto field and they really like the D35 and think it's gotten a bad rap.

So, after convincing myself that I was going to stick with the D35, I got offered a Currie High Pinion 9, with 4.56 gears, an ARB locker and less that 15,000 miles on the axle for $2500. Oh, and disc brakes. That's a good deal, no?
and I ordered the 1"body lift, the 1" MML lift so I can go to 35's once I buy new tires. Plus, I'm upgrading the D30 front axle to warn high strength axle shafts. (please, no horror stories about warn axle shafts, they're already paid for).Donate Life - Be a tissue, organ and blood donor

That's a great deal indeed. I know John, and can only shave a couple of bills off that price, especially if its already set up with brackets and mounts. You will never regret this mod whatsoever. I'm very familiar with the install if you have any ???'s.ASM REAPER BUGGY ON 40'S SOLD
