First off - I wanted to say how much I look forward to meeting the group. Unfortunately- I'll probably not be able to go wheelin. My plans are to camp on Friday night and check out the vendors and other sites and sounds on Sat. morning.
There is a geocache I'd like to get but I don't know how long it will take me. It's the one at the fireplug.
I was a little curious about sleeping under the jeep. I've heard it talked about on other forums. I used to sleep in the back of my Xterra often when camping so I've developed a really lazy attitude about setting up tents. Is this considered a common practice or do people frown on it? And without having to actually crawl under it myself and rehearse- do non-lifted jeeps with a fat guy as an owner have any chance of fitting?
I agree with Al. I wouldn't be able to sleep under my jeep before I lifted it. But there is a solution. It takes all of 2 hours to pull the passenger seat, build a platform in it's place, and you will have ~6 1/2' of prime sleeping area between dash board and tailgate. It takes me less than 5 minutes to go from 2 seats to the one seat and platform, or vice-versa. Total cost was ~$20. Good storage room underneath it to boot.

I'm pretty sure most Jeeps leak too much stuff to sleep under them. At least the Jeeps I know.

Here are the GPS coordinates for the camp we had last year. I am going to try and get the same place. N33 17.262 W116 00.208
If you don't have a gps, head in on Marina Blvd, when you come over the hill you will see the tents set up. Continue through the wash and stay left. Our site is abeam the tents to the left. I have a green S10 Blazer and my Jeep. I'll be getting with Sara on the way to pic up signs. If anyone want's my cell # give me a pm.
You guys don't forget about me out there. My buddy who was with me last year taped alot of it and burned me a DVD, thats' pretty sweet. When I get to San Deigo I'll make copies and send them to you guys. I'm over here in Louisiana right now, going to Florida tomorrow for 40 days. Then moving to SD the second week of April. Keep your eyes open for any good deals on YJ's or even a old TJ possibly a CJ7 or 8. The navy has been paying me pretty well on vaction (travel money) and I've actually SAVED most of it, so after I get the apt. settled I'll be looking to get another jeep. I wish I could get out to TDS this year but I'll be stuck in class. You guys have a good time out there.
In the words of our fearless Governor " I'll Be Back "
Can you give us a write on that? THat's pretty neat, and a very interesting idea.
Sarah, I can do that when I build the final version. The pics are of the proto-type. There are a few things I want to change (steel frame instead of wood, different material for the deck, etc). It will probably be this summer some time (when the jeep is down for a few weeks for another *project* I have in the works).
olllllllo <--- If you can read that, roll me over!
