I like that idea. You got my vote. Would like to add Calcite Mine and Sheep Tanks to that.

            • It's 1.30 pm Wed, just arrived. Cell works. Lots of rigs arriving. I've got a good sized area. From Pole Line Rd (where the camping spot showed on google maps), go .6 miles north. I am in the right. Itasca class A, 34 ft, green TJ.

Edit. Will listen on ch 4

              • I just got back from a 3 day trip to Borrego springs, we ran the Calsite mine trail ( easy trail nice views ) we also ran the Coyote canyon / Sheep canyon both are on the same trail ( This is a must do trail has a little bit of everything, great views , some fun water crossing and a few rocky hill climbs. If you do both trails it will take around 5 to 6 hours to do, you have to exit the same way you go in so you will run the trail both ways. have fun the weather is great down there.

Kurt, be careful and take your time getting back here. Do you remember the story of the family that tried to take a back road across Oregon a few years ago and got snowbound and stranded? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Kim They relied on a map which didn't show that the road they were taking was subject to closure during the winter.
If you don't like the way I drive, stay out of the bushes!

Scattered clouds. It rained this morning, but fairly nice this afternoon.

                        • Sounds like a great weekend ahead. Is the road back to the campsite passable in a 2wd Ranger? My sister is coming but HAS to leave by 9a Friday for work and is hauling down a couple of Christmas trees for me so that I'm not running with the back window rolled up and tree hanging out.

If her Ranger won't make it due to ground clearance but a 2wd will I can just strap trees to the roof of my XTerra and let her bring that down. We should be there between 10 and 11 tomorrow morning. I will be on CB4 once I get close, possibly dragging my sister's truck along

                          • [QUOTE=dirtman13;181652]Depending on the conditions I planned on taking my kids to see the Pumpkin Patch, Gas Dome, and the Shell Reef on Thursday. If they get a lot of rain Ocotillo will be very muddy. Friday is Pinion Mountain and hopefully the Mud Caves and Petroglyph. As Roger said Saturday has yet to be determined.

These all sound like fun to me. I hope to be there early tomorrow morning.

She will be fine. It's a grated road.

I don't know what time they are leaving camp, but Kurt told me to meet him at the Pinyon Mountain Trail Head at 9am on Friday. Rube and I are heading down there Friday morning. Do you want to join us?
