  • Trail Run: MJR run to Anza Borrego

Seems there is a lot of interest on our AB run post. Lots of folks want to go run the area. We were planning on going back soon, so heres a plan. New Years Eve is Friday Dec. 31. I want to camp there. If you don't it is a very doable day trip. If we start early (7ish) at the Sizzler at Magnolia exit off the 15 in Corona, we can be at the trail head in about 1.5 hours. We will figure out what trails we will run after I see what the attendance will be but there are plenty of cool trails and lots to see. For those who want to camp, got a cool place in mind. There are hotels in Borrego Springs as well, and a REALLY good italian restaurant too. So lets see who all wants to/can go, and then we'll finalize a trip plan.

I'm in for at least a day trip. Depending upon family in town will determine if we camp or not.

We may do this. Trying to talk LeAnne into camping. I'll let you know. Love that place!

            Kurt,

I was just thinking, Is there a place to meet you down in AB instead of Corona? For Me it would be quicker to come down through Yucca Valley/Morongo. Or, where are you planning on camping. It might be worth it to come the day before and camp Thursday night.

Roger, Sure we can meet in AB. Once we figure out if this will fly, I'll post GPS cords for the trail head for Pinyon Mnt and we can meet there.

I'm tentative. Dropping folks off at the airport that morning, could definitely get to AB around 2pm to meet up in wherever the designated campsite is. There are lots of places in the washes near WallStreet canyon, with enough area to accommodate a large group (not sure if camping is allowed though?). Or, there is a campsite not far from there, near the Hwy 78 and Old Kane Springs Road. Camp site has running water /toilets and large flat lots with a few scrub trees for coverage/privacy. Can get windy there though.

I'm going out on a limb here and assuming that New Years Eve is not going to be an alcohol free campfire situation. Probably won't be bringing the kids.... This will impact my ability to participate. I'll have to play it by ear.

I'll be heading up very early Friday. We will be camping in Ocotillo probably off the power line road. They have restrooms there.
                        Check out .
