  • From Cleghorn to Dishpan (& more!)

A small group wanted for a run from Cleghorn to Craft's Peak. It is an aggressive goal to travel the 40+ miles planned in one day, so a small group is preferred. Experience on the trails is recommended, but not required.

The trails planned are Cleghorn (Easy, with moderate features), 2N17X (Difficult), Pilot Rock Road (Easy, with moderate features), Willow Creek Jeep Trail (Moderate/Easy), 2N29Y, 2N28Y & 2N27Y (All Moderate), Dishpan Springs (Difficult), 3N16 (Easy) for a short distance to 2N54 (Moderate/Easy), and then up Craft's Peak (listed as Black Diamond by the USFS).

The goal is to catch the sunset from Craft's Peak and then catch some dinner in the mountain area. We may not make it, but it's worth a try. If you can't do the whole run, come along and split off when you need to.

We should meet on Saturday Morning at the Cleghorn Exit off of I-15 at 8:15am, and plan to start up the trail by 8:30am. Bring a lunch so that we can eat on the trail. Please post if interested.

I would like to do a run on Saturday, but 12+ hours is more time than I can commit. Perhaps I will run the Cleghorn to Pilot Rock portion, and Willow Creek if time permits.

Hey sorry everybody, I just re-read my post and I didn't mean to make this sound like some exclusive forced-march thing. :gun:

:bonk: As with any run, this is for fun. If we make it the whole way cool! If not, that's cool too. I just want to plan a run and see how far we get. I'd love your company ECV Jeep for any portion of the trail. I need all the help that I can get to stay outta trouble

I hope to see you and anyone else interested on Saturday morning.

I just did Dishpan this past weekend, otherwise I'd be so up for this. I'd like to meet some more wheelers, and what would be even better would be some chick wheelers. My group's all guys (not that I mind, since I dig guys, but you know )

Malachi........I will do this run if we can meet at the Cleghorn trailhead ready to depart at 8:30 AM. My Jeep is not real fast on the highways (ask Russ Chung, who blew by me last trip while on Hwy 14).

I would like to be finished by the mid afternoon so I can head down the hill. Say 3 or 4 PM. I am game to run any of the trails you mentioned. I would just like to be home to take my girlfriend out for dinner. If we start with Cleaghorn, we can see how far we get.

Not to impose on you, but we could also think of running Holcomb Creek, Dishpan and John Bull (or some combination of those). I will PM you to discuss off the boards.

You should come on out. My wife and I trade off driving. She is driving the tough lines on Cleghorn, and I will drive 2N17X. She will probably do Dishpan since she has not climbed the dry falls yet.

As for going on to Holcomb, John Bull, etc. I'm in! We were orginally going to do a run from Gold Mtn, JB, Holcomb, to Dishpan, but I found out that the BB Jeep Jamboree is this weekend. I'm guessing that the popular trails will be jammed with folks that paid $250 per person to be there. But I'm willing to try our luck if we still have daylight when we get there.

This actually sounds like it would be a fun goal to accomplish all of these trails in a day. My Jeep is almost ready for fun. I've got lot's of work to do in order to get it ready for Memorial day and the Cal 4 Wheel High Desert Round-up.

I'm looking forward to staying @ the Motel 6 resort! (sarcasim)

This is exactly the kind of trip I have been waiting to do for my first MJR run. I think it shouldn’t be a problem making this one.

I'll be leaving @ 6:00. Do you want to meet and drive out with us? I live in Saugus near Seco Cyn and Bouquet Cyn. I have to warn you though, I don't drive very fast on the hwy in my Jeep.

Sure, I'm in Canyon Country off of Via Princessa next to the 14. You are not that far from me. Do you have a place in mind to meet? I'll PM you my number.

I am still going to try and make it, though it looks like my passenger has bailed out on me. If I am not at the trailhead ready to leave by 8:30 AM, please hit the dirt without me.
