Great pics and report. I'll try to find out why 2N13D was blocked. Did you try the other entrance off 2N19C?

Not the best effort, I'd agree. The listing for 3N69 is innacurate, Horsethief Canyon isn't even listed.

I'm sure they did that on purpose. Those maps by no means will replace my topo and my gps. It's just a nice little reference with some good info on the first page

I didn't know that there was another entrance. My USFS map shows 2N19C as a spur only; no connection to Craft's Peak. I will have to go exploring! Thanks for the tip.

I wish that you could have been there Doug. It was a good run!

                  And why would that be?

Given the budget, I'm surprised 3N16 is on the map

Actually, considering the scale and the purpose, I think that the USFS has been pretty consistent with what they show. After I compared this with my OHV Guide that you can get from any Ranger station, these maps show all the roads designated as Improved Dirt Roads, 4WD trails, Green Sticker, and Motorcycle trails that the guide has. The "lesser" trails are the only ones that seem to be purposefully omitted. The only exceptions seem to be on the Cactus Flats map. Three 4WD trails are missing (3N03A, 3N87, & 3N54) but they are on the edges of the map and may not be in the Mountaintop district. Two Improved Dirt Roads are missing as well (2N02 & 2N71).

I thought that maybe they left some of the trails out so people that are new to the trails would plan their trip on the roads shown which as Mike stated are "Improved dirt roads". This would keep heavy traffic off the other roads and prevent further erosion from vehicle traffic. I could be wrong it was just a guess.
