    Saturday's Night Run

    Saturday’s Night Run:

After everyone returned from the Ghost Walk, a few of us who couldn’t get enough four wheeling during the day decided to retrace the day’s run in reverse. FrmnJJ, Steelman, TJSupe, Matt2001TJ and I went on the night run. MadMike decided to ride shotgun with TJSupe, and JJ’s brother rode with him (sorry, I forgot his brother’s name).

There wasn’t much scenery to show (duh, it was dark!!), and I was lost most of the time anyway, so here are the pictures in no particular order:

    FrmnJJ:

    Steelman:

    Matt2001TJ:

    TJSupe:

    FrmnJJ:

We made the loop in about two hours; no damage. I was the only one who got stuck; JJ strapped me out. Ironic that the night run was the only one we did all weekend with no damage.

great pics and write up as usual, russ.
well, i had a great time out there despite all of the carnage repair. i am glad to see everyone got out of the trail and home safely.
maybe next time i'll get to finish the trail
nonetheless, there were great people, and some good laughs shared around the camp fire.

i'll have my pics uploaded soon. (hopefully this evening)
and i'll link them to this site.

        Sunday Morning's Run

        Sunday Morning’s Run

On Sunday morning, nine die-hard Jeepers could not resist the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful spring weather by making one more run in the Calico Mountains. The plan was to run up Odessa Canyon (a moderate trail), then take some of the easy scenic trails along the ridgeline to explore the area around Calico Ghost Town and return to camp in about two hours.

The nine Jeepers were Nailer341, FrmnJJ, TJSupe, MadMike, Ed Adams, Steelman, Matt2001TJ, CJDirtBiker and myself.

Nailer341’s red YJ is leading, followed by FrmnJJ’s red Rubi, TJSupe’s white TJ, MadMike’s silver TJ, and Ed Adams’ red TJ.

        FrmnJJ, TJSupe and MadMike:

We were making slow, steady progress up the trail. The five of us who ran the same trail the night before joked that it seemed much easier in the dark, probably because the drivers were well lubricated. Then JJ’s track bar broke. A full report of the breakage and the trail repair is in a separate post.

After finishing the trail repair, Nailer341, FrmnJJ and CJDirtBiker decided to turn around and return to camp. TJSupe led the remaining six Jeeps up the trail.

TJSupe, MadMike, Ed Adams and Steelman. Notice the remains of a wrecked car below and to the left of the trail:

We climbed out of the canyon and followed the easy trail on the ridgeline to return to camp:

We completed the run without further damage (thank God!)

Thanks again to everyone who wrenched on my jeep. I bow down to Doran. I can't wait to see the video of the coil spring popping out. All I heard was "tinnnng....boooiiiiinnnnnngggggg!" Looked/sounded worse than it eventually turned out to be. I had a blast as usual. YOu people are a great group to wheel with!

                        Nice pics and write ups!
