Me and Debra should be there. It's a fun event despite the a-holes. Besides, I have to return Al's camp chair from last year.

I won't be going to TDS this year, but since so many outa town folks will be down south, maybe we should get together for a shredder canyon run on sunday. chime in if you think it's a good idea.

Also, I am not a big fan of large events, but feel its worth checking out at least once if you have the chance. The MJR camp was fine, but others were a little crazy. If you do get to go, insist on Al making cobbler in the fire. It's to die for.ASM REAPER BUGGY ON 40'S SOLD

Originally posted by Chris_LYa, I did not think about the date. I thought it was later towards the end of the month. It will be pending on how fast my knee heals. I have a hard enough time crawling up and into the rig with two good legs, so we'll see what happens. Never had an injury like this before.

Are you in a cast? In 1973 While in the Army was playing some football. Had a Cuban take my legs out from under me. Shattered on knee big time. Not only breaking it but tearing some other suff..it was pretty bad.
But the worst which hapened to me was a torn rotator. Darn I did that the day after I lifted my jeep. Didnt realize how high it was and to prevent falling on my face I grabbed the roll bar rest is history. It took me out of wheeling for 6 months!
Have your number 1 drive this could be the last TDS in the place.
Hope to see you there!!
wait to they get you to do leg lifts...ohhhh97 TJ Buffed Out

tierra del sol is a GREAT event.. ive gone the past 4 yrs but this yr im out due to jeep build and some health problems. its a great place to test your articulation and it is what you make it.
you can register and run with the club, but you do not have to. there are literally thousands of people that go out there for that weekend and if you are running by yourself of with only 1 or 2 other vehicles i'd say register. if you have a large group you can register but its more fun to do your own thing out there. the only thing that the registration does is enter you into the raffle and the prizes are HUGE.. 2-3-4 thousand dollar prize give aways in merchandise.. last yr a guy got a dynatrac rear end with gear choice and an atlas so you tell me what thats worth..
the real fun is in the "playground" which is west of the campground and on saturday night all the drunks get out there and tear up there junk in these big holes in the ground . its hilarious.
be prepaired to pack it in for a day or two and there is a nice mexican restaurant just about 1 mi off the trail as well as a liquor store..
heres a pic of some of the terrain
1st batch TJ bought August of 96. Locked and Loaded!

Just my :2: , but some have posted that they're going but not registering/paying. I think if you go to an event, you should pay the registration fee, 'cause you're using all the resources (porta potties for one) that the event people are having to pay for and that aint right. :whip:Donate Life - Be a tissue, organ and blood donor

I guess the politics of large events will cause feelings pro and con.
And I do not see why we are argueing them here, go if you want do not if you don't.
Personally I stand with the no go group. However if you want to go, pay for it, there is NO excuse to be part of the outlaw fringe that gives the event its bad name. To good of a cause to be TAINTED by drunken dangerous campground antics. Finding an excuse to not pay, no mattter what the excuse is, puts you in that group.
Funny thing is, I can go on group runs of 10 vehicles and not see open drinking and vehicle operation, but at events like this I fear for the safety of many, including my party, from the nonability of the organizing authority to police it's own event.censored for having an opinion
