Actually, it would be a 'horrible' place to work. It is a power plant believe it or not!

Sunday afternoon was the Clear Lake run. Sergio (50yj), RAT, and I left Cortez, CO in the morning and headed to the campsite. On the way we stopped by the Hogan Trading Post:

At the campsite, we were greeted by some very hefty Golden Mantled Squirrels:

After we set up camp, we headed up to Clear Lake. There is a cool waterfall beside the trail:

When we got to the lake, Sharon and I took a side trail to overlook the group at the lake:

We checked out the lake and did a little fishing in a hail storm:

We saw several marmots during the trip:

We also stopped and hiked out to another really cool waterfall:

Afterward we went to dinner at the Bent Elbow:

Then we toured around Silverton and checked out some of the sites:

              Some local four wheel drives:

It was a great start to the trip!

Stony Pass. We crossed the Continental Divide and found the headwaters of the Rio Grande.

                            Monday

On Monday, a group of us went to Animas Forks ghost town before the run around the Alpine Loop:

We took a spur up to Hurricane Basin:

We stopped for lunch at a great waterfall:

We spent most of the Cinnamon Pass trail in the rain, but it just made it that much more fun:

On the way back out on CR 2, the road ended up being blocked by a big landslide:

So we had to take the California Gulch trail to get back to the pavement:

Dinner was BBQ at "Thee Pitts Again":

Everyone is on their way home now. This thread will explode in the next week as we guestimated that the group took 50,000 photos and 250 hours of video.
