  • We decided to head back to camp for the evening and try it again tomorrow but on the way drove through Fish Creek wash and some really cool rock formations.

We got back to camp and had dinner, drinks and some good conversation then celebrated the New year with a BANG! or two. Can't think of any people I would rather spend the Holiday with than MJR folks. Best Jeep people in the world.

Next day we went to Truckhaven and explored the Calcite mine, the Sheep tanks, and drove through Truckhaven exploring the terrain there. Maybe we should move IDTT to truckhaven. Hmmmmm.... And thanks to George (TDS SD) for the tour. He really knows that place well and took the time to lead us through before heading home. Again, thanks George.

Thanks to everyone that came up to play. Happy new year everyone!

      • That could have turned into a roll and would have been ugly. So Roger this doesn't look to bad nothing you cannot fix. I hope you still enjoyed the rest of the weekend.

        • Glad to hear your okay Roger. As expensive as Jeep parts are, they're still cheaper than people, specially good people. -- Sorry I missed so many folks and what looks like was a great weekend. I'm hoping to be able to get out and run more with everyone this month.

As promised here is the couple pictures I got that actually turned out. As great as it is having a camera on our phones, they still are just that... Phone Cameras.

Kurt got shots of everyone coming through the Squeeze except for the Rat Patrol, so here ya go:

Where Chuck's dad had some carnage:

Chuck drove his dad's jeep down the hill:

                      Climbing Roger's Rock:

We winched up some of the Jeeps:

I'm glad that you are okay Roger. Here's some of the pics that Sharon took:

                      Some unassisted climbs:

Later, on the way back through Fish Creek Wash, we stopped to play in a rock garden that Kurt and I saw the last time we went to A-B:

Camping in the desert was a great way to welcome 2011!

                        • Pics from Saturday

Saturday we went to the Calcite Mine:

Then we visited the Sheep Tanks:

Which apparently was primarily for the dogs' entertainment:

From there we crossed over to the Truckhaven area and played for a bit:

The 'limo' had a tough time in some of the tight turns:

We put everyone's articulation to the test:

George (TDS SD) was a great guide. Thanks for everything George!
On the way back to the pavement, we climbed a killer hill with several paths to the top:

Chuck, Scott and I took a steep, loose climb.

Scott dug in near the top and couldn't get moving again, so Chuck strapped him up the last 25 feet or so:

We hit the pavement just before sunset. It was a beautiful one:

I had a great time with everyone. Thanks for putting this run together. I'm looking forward to the next one!

                          • a BIG THANKS!!

My first run with the MJR group will be hard to top! Everyone was so welcoming and friendly; not to mention helpful! Shouts out to:

Kurt- for setting a great trip up!

Scott- for returning my call and getting me hooked up with the group - plus, he spotted my rear thru Truckhaven!

Mike -- he had my front and is a pro spotter - made me look like I had a clue as to what I was doin!

Chuck - a lifesaver. He SuperWinched me up Roger's Rock and had an exhaust clamp for my busted muffler.

Russ - provided a nut for above clamp, covered my end the first day, and helped with my Heart Attack Hill descent

Phil - for wrenching on above said muffler.

George -- for a great trip thru Truckhaven! Thanks for watching out for me!

Roger - gave me a reality check! Seriously, a gracious man who lives to jeep again!!!

Overall, the knowledge was immense this weekend. The trip was a blast! But really? Thanks for making a new guy to this awesome sport feel welcomed and feel a part of what you guys have been doin for so long!!

                            • Like I said on my facebook page: "I wouldn't have traded this weekend for anything"

What's a little mishap, but a learning experience. No harm, no foul. I want to thank everyone who rushed over help me. Especially the crew that got me out of the Jeep. I can't quite remember who all helped me out. It took a while for the adreleine to settle down as you can imagine.

The harder the trails a guy runs, the more ready he needs to be for mishaps.

My sincere thanks to everyone... You are all truly the best Jeepers on the planet.

                              • WOW!!! After seeing all of the pictures I'm pretty (extremely sad) that I didn't get to stay Roger, again I'm glad you're okay and Joe it looked like you did a little 3 wheelin out there, glad you had fun and I'm sorry I couldn't make it back out.

The misses really enjoyed meeting everyone and is REALLY wanting to do a run with everybody again soon. She said she's all for camping, but maybe when it's warmer but she is ready to do a day trip anytime soon.

Chuck - How'd those wide axles work out for you on The Squeeze? I haven't seen any photos of your fun on that.
