Okay, I have some questions and comments.
First. I'm still a newbie to Jeeps and how you guys run. I love the stories though. I have serious respect for the trail tools and know-how you guys employ, like this here:
I sure don't have gasket sealant, oil and hand pump in my rig to rip open a diff on the trail! Nor do I have the mechanical aptitude or knowledge yet, thought I am slowly learning....
But is this trail really all that hard? I got an LR3 through it just a month ago, on 31" tires. Has it changed all that much?
Are these photos at the same general spot? Is this the waterfall?
Now a comment on saftey, I saw some very scary stuff in those photos, mostly regarding the use of the Hi-Lift jack.
This photo shows a jack without the handle properly locked into the upright position, with people below the lifted Jeep!
Pretty sure this is the same rig, now with two people below it, with the Hi-lift in an unsecured position, and the Jeep in an unbraced lift.
I think these two images show the same scenario:
I confess, I have no idea why the Hi-Lift was neccessary in those situations, other than to remove a wheel to get at the axle maybe, but it's on the wrong side? I dunno. Like I said, I don't have much mechanical knowledge, but trail saftey has been beat into my head plenty of times.
I see stuff like this, and I picture a hand in a cast with every bone broken:
