  • Trails in or around SD

I'm going to hangout with my buddy in SD this weekend. We were planning on going to correl canyon but apparently it is closed? I guess just point me in the right direction and I will be on my way.

Is it the winter months that make everyone overly crabby and sarcastic around here? I found a bunch of trails just by using the search button. Try it, you'll like it!

I know that I have been accused of being really crabby in Autumn. I dont like the sun going down earlier, I dont like the cold mornings, hot afternoons, cold evenings. Yup really moody this time of year. I was hopeing that jeepn would help with that.
            yeah yeah yeah....

Yeah, it was always pretty bad for me in Michigan. Anyone who's bored off their socks this week can join us at the SBNF Adopt-A-Trail meeting in Corona this evening! PM me for info.

Trying to remember any areas that we used to ride....but all that come to mind and I revisited are all closed or developed with condos and houses. The closed areas, they just wait for folks like me so they run me out, cite me or?
The only areas it seems we can go officially is out towards the desert.
We used to do trails along the border, palm drive in San Ysidro, imperial beach along the ocean, Otay ranch in Chula Vista, Bonita Vista towards Spring Valley or undeveloped places behind Encinitas going east to the interstate 15. But again all these areas or either closed and patroled, or developed with a million houses. So, the only places left to mention are to the east of town. Starting at the Viegas Casino going east. Lake Moreno area just off the interstate 8 at Pine Valley. Pine Valley area has places. All of these places are shown on maps you can load off from the internet or atlas.
Sorry, I don't feel like much help here.......

The Border Park is still open in Imperial Beach. I'm still riding around Otay Ranch, it's not closed, just hard to access. The best way is from the Lower Otay Lake by the water treatment plant. They're building a big bridge that will span the gorge there so access isn't a problem.

You could do the San Yisdro Mtns (Otay) from west to east, it's a nice ride. Proctor Valley is another area. I've been exploring Marron Valley and running the border to Tecate, nice trails there. The BP is out there but they are great to talk to, they know a lot of the good places to ride.

Sycamore Canyon is open and it leads into Marron Valley Rd. I'm planning on checking out Kitchen Creek and Cameron Corner, there's a good trail there.
