I'm going to hangout with my buddy in SD this weekend. We were planning on going to correl canyon but apparently it is closed? I guess just point me in the right direction and I will be on my way.

The only areas it seems we can go officially is out towards the desert.
We used to do trails along the border, palm drive in San Ysidro, imperial beach along the ocean, Otay ranch in Chula Vista, Bonita Vista towards Spring Valley or undeveloped places behind Encinitas going east to the interstate 15. But again all these areas or either closed and patroled, or developed with a million houses. So, the only places left to mention are to the east of town. Starting at the Viegas Casino going east. Lake Moreno area just off the interstate 8 at Pine Valley. Pine Valley area has places. All of these places are shown on maps you can load off from the internet or atlas.
Sorry, I don't feel like much help here......."If you have significant difficulty here, dont go any further....it only gets worse".

The Border Park is still open in Imperial Beach. I'm still riding around Otay Ranch, it's not closed, just hard to access. The best way is from the Lower Otay Lake by the water treatment plant. They're building a big bridge that will span the gorge there so access isn't a problem.
You could do the San Yisdro Mtns (Otay) from west to east, it's a nice ride. Proctor Valley is another area. I've been exploring Marron Valley and running the border to Tecate, nice trails there. The BP is out there but they are great to talk to, they know a lot of the good places to ride.
Sycamore Canyon is open and it leads into Marron Valley Rd. I'm planning on checking out Kitchen Creek and Cameron Corner, there's a good trail there.
