well, i picked up the jeep that was sold from mjr by gunjankakani.
thanks for the jeep, and the deal, by the way.

i bought this thing knowing that the engine was shot, but thought i'd give it a try driving the 25 miles home.
well.. it didnt make it. going down the road at about 35-40 mph the clanking stopped, and a big burst of smoke came out the back. i kept pushing it until it just didnt want to go any more, which was right in the bowels of east LA.

here is what it looks like when the cklanking stops.

i will be putting in another 4.2 in the neer future.

here are a couple of pics of the rest of the jeep.

About 5 days a week. Usually come back here (in Corona tonight) just for the weekends, until I get the place on the market.

Hate to see you leave the area, hope it does not interfere with your ability to get into those hills. But congrats on the new place. should be cooler.

                    Justv a bit cooler

Nothing's been able to keep me oput of the forest in the 40 years or so I've been going up there - I figure the extra 30 miles on the 91 won't kill me.

Nate - I'm a great neighbor, as long as you don't mind a somewhat cranky almost 50 yr old that has noisy hobbies. Not as bad as when I had a sandrail and quads, but I've learned to keep it reasonable. Plasma cutter is a lot quieter than the chop saw anyway. Was worse when I was shooting competitively - neighbors in Huntington Beach always seemed to see me coming or going with a small arsenal

                      well, the price was right.
currently my plan is to fix this thing as inexpensively, and effectively as possible, and sell it.
i will also sell beckys jeep, and put her in a newer 6 cyl. tj with the combined money.
thats the plan. lets see if i can get it done.

i would like to, but it will cost quite a bit more money. with my current plan to sell both jeeps, i'm not sure it will be money well spent.

i can sure appreciate an old fart neighbor that likes to work on jeeps though. you let me know how serious you are about that
i will need a hand to put in the new engine, and havent recruited any one yet.
hell, i could have an engine party, and whoever wants to get greasy can swing on by for some bbq.

i should have the old engine out of there this afternoon. that part is pretty easy by myself. lining up the new one isnt.

                        Erik,

Offer is serious. My weekends are pretty scarce this month (working on the Corona house, USFS class on the 28th). This Wed night I have a meeting, but most of my other nights I can probably swing by.

                              Erik,

If you have the engine party on the weekend I would be more than happy to drive out for the fun. Have always wanted to see/help with an engine swap.
