Found some federal 55 grn on other sites for similer price of the prvi. I dont like going to ranges these days too many rules as far as high cap mags and if you dont have a bullet button they want to see your doj paperwork to prove you have a legal california registered assualt weapon. I went to expensive lytle creek to shoot with my son 2 months ago and the range guy got pissed at me for not backing in. WTF! who cares if I back in or pull in rules didnt say anything about how to park. That range sucks compared to the inland fish and game range i use to shoot at in sanbernidino off the 215 thats closed now. Not to mention they said the atf comes by there once in a while to check if people are in compliance. Dont want the hassle or harassment. Ill stick with hodge road for now. Where you guys shoot at?

One of the ranges I shoot/belong to is Desert Marksmans in Acton.
It's 15 minutes from my house, and can shoot out to 600+ yds anytime.
ALL, CA. ammo and firearm rules apply. Which ain't no big deal.
We also have 1K yds shoots about one time a month or so.
BTW, those range rules are enforced because those range folks don't want to lose their lease.

I went sans FA cuz, during all my research. The people who had stories, of when they've needed it, started with, when I was in Afganistan, or Iraq, or fill in you favorite mid east destination. Those same people said. My home rifle I've had for "X" amount of years, and I've never used it. I'm only a rec shooter. I wont be crawling thru "the s#it", and staking my life on my rifles dependability. I've asked most everyone, how often, they've needed the FA. Its almost always never. If my rifle gets to where the bolt wont reset, I'll just stop, and strip it, to see whats wrong. Also, I'm a lefty. So, the less crap in my face, the better. I also like the idea of my rifle, be'n a little different, then everyone else's. Cuz, This is my rifle, There are many... LOL
My turn to ask. Why are you having your heavy barrel fluted? If your plan is to build a long range target rifle. Why would you need the extra cooling that fluting gives you, for rapid-fire conditions. A "long range" target rifle, wont see those type of conditions. One shot, One target hit. That said, I like the look of a fluted barrel. I want the Yankee Hill diamond fluted barrel. Unfortunately they're all out of stock right now.It was like that when I got here.

I shoot at the private range, in Lytle Creek, thats next to the public range. A friend is a member there. I like it. We both are night owls, and they're 24/7. We go with a generator and a couple flood lights, and shoot til 1am. its great. They have a pistol, and rifle firing lines, as well as private ranges further in back. There's also a long range, range, if you get there early enough. Targets are on you. You can shoot at anything. You just have to haul it out.It was like that when I got here.

I have used my FA only a hand-full of times. Needed it couple of times at Gunsite, when we were run'n "drills" outside and wind was blow'n the silt(AZ. lapping compound)pretty good. It's also part of the FTF weapon clearing drills you learn.
It's better to have and not need, than to need and not have.
There was a reason the military went to them.

Privi is dang good ammo! I used it in both Carbine classes I took at Gunsite with no issues.
Used more than 2K rnds there in total.

As far as the barrel being flutted your right it looks good to me also and thats the main reason next to lightening it up a bit and helping cooling. That upper by itself with 24" long 1 inch thick stainless barrel weigh almost as much as my complete 16 car AR. I am a lefty also and I also have used my fa a few times also.Like to get a left handed upper reciever but I think they are more coin. I just seen a fa plug and some good deals on lower kits with magpul grips on palmetto web site.Last edited by Jeeperator; 08-18-12, 07:09 PM.

I will never run that 'Russkie' ammo. Have to mamy $$$ tied up in my AR's. Also seen it foul-out and lock up many a AR. It's a very "dirty" ammo as to what it leaves behind. Many makers will void the warranty if steel cased ammo is used.
Mini 14's are not built as "tight" and run a different style of gas system.
IF you buy foreign made .223/5.56mm ammo make sure it is not Berdan Primed type.

I called Stag about there Lefty upper. I would've purchased it in a heart beat. They told me, they are back ordered indefinitely. I couldn't wait that long.
With my lower complete, and operating well. My stripped upper on order. I'm looking at BCG's and barrels. My biggest concern is chrome lined or not, on the barrel. Unfortunately, availability will be as much of a factor, as anything else. Rifle parts seem to be on backorder more then anything, I've worked on.It was like that when I got here.

I have used it, seen it used and seen the issues(first hand)that follow after and during use.
When you say you have not had an issue that's good. How many rnds a day were you firing?
We were run'n 1K+ rounds in 2-3 days training and saw many FTFs with Wolf/Russian ammo. In fact now, I don't know of a training site that will allow it.
BTW, I do not know of one LEO agency that allows the use of steel case ammo in dept owned guns, even for training....What could they know??
