  • The best tires are...

Fill in the blank, looking for off road with good wear on pavement too. was looking at MTR's heard some negatives about them...what do you think is the best?

Depends on how you like to wheel.

I used to have a toy with big-O Muds on it, they worked fairly well off road, and lasted forever. big-o replaces your tire if you trash it, or tear the sidewall off or whatnot.

Currently I have Mickey Thompson Baja Claws on my Cj-5, they kick ass off road, but I'm not sure how long they'll last on asphalt.

I am not a tire expert. I am running BFG's on my heep. I like em off road and they do quite well on the road with no road noise. They are 285/75/16....or equivalent to a 32'' x 9'' or there abouts.

I go mostly in El Dorado, so some mud, some water, lots of rocks.

well...I had the Big 0 Muds on mine, and tore up two sidewalls on Calico one year

I now have GoodYear MTR's. They are awesome in the rocks, I can honestly say they changed my wheeling experience.

Just avoid the 16" load range D or E and you will be happy. Overall 15" wheels and load range C tires are the best off road. The MT/R's also have very tough sidewalls. Rotate them properly and they will last.

ive got super swampers on my baby. the SSR's seem to work great up here in the mud, and trails. and also ive got about 35000 miles of pavement wear, and im still sitting around 60%.
