yea, the savvy UA is really what I'd like under there. I'd just have to make sure I could get it installed all in one weekend so I could drive it to work on monday! It sounds like fairly lengthy install process, especially if the nutserts need to be replaced if they break loose? I usually tend to take a long time to install things anyway, I'm not the greatest mechanic, so I take things nice and slow

Thanks for the tip on the rear main seal, I hear that the 4.0s pretty much all need that replaced! I take it the rear main seal is not part of the main oilpan gasket? I have just under 110k miles. I suppose I should probably crack open the owners manual and find out what needs to be done after 100k, I'm sure there's a good laundry list there!

Depending on your mileage, while the pan is off do the rear main seal. Don't let it be intimidating. Cleaning the inside of the pan is harder than replacing the seal.

Should fit, you could look into the Savvy skid setup. Makes for a nice belly up and engine skid in one.

yes, skid for sure! I guess I might as well replace the pan, eh? I am assuming that it's just as simple as draining the oil, removing all the bolts and popping it off? And the new pan just bolts back on with the gasket in place, no other things needed to remove?

That, for $99, is that a good replacement? It only says up to 2005, but I can't imagine the 2006 TJ 4.0 has a different pan than the 2005 4.0?

You can try beating the oilpan out or changing it. Then a skid plate that covers the oilpan and trans, so you do not bust the bellhousing either. You get into rockcrawling some nice smooth skids underneath are the thing to do

so I'm looking around at the oilpan, and I cannot find any areas that look like they are more saturated with oil than others. There's just a collection of oil moisture at bottom of the pan, near the bolt. So, I'm guessing it's the oil plug?

I did find that there is one oilpan bolt missing. It doesn't look like it is recently missing (I don't see a ring where the bolt head would have been) it's probably been missing for a while. I should probably put a bolt in there just in case.

What I meant by jacking from from the oilpan, that I might be able to see the motor mounts maybe flexing where they shouldn't be.

The oil is all drained right now, and I did notice that on my cardboard that I keep under the jeep every night there is probably 3x the amount of drips, so.... something is leaking. The bolt seems to be ok, I don't think the bolt got hit. I'm going to poke around under there a bit more, maybe it's leaking from the oilpan gasket. Maybe the hit made it start to leak somewhere.

I have not noticed any difference in performance, sound, or oil pressure. How would I know if the oil pickup is damaged somehow? (pull the pan, I guess?)

I'm sending myself a better photo of the oilpan, but here's the one I took right as we were airing up, I got a better photo of it this morning, will post it shortly.

    How bad is that dent?
If its high enough it could affect the oil pump pickup inside the pan.

My old 47 CJ2 had a ¼” plate welded to the bottom of the oil pan.
    Something to think about.

Check your engine mounts. They absorb oil and soften. A good hit can push the mounting bolt through, letting the motor rock up under torque and put the fan into the shroud.
