Finished. Had to wait for some wheel spacers to come in. It drives very nice, sounds good with the new Spintec muffler, doesn't have as much body roll as before and steers straight and true.

This one is done and just left to go home with daddy. On to the next project; a ground up build on another old CJ. Building the frame, suspension, roll cage, everything. Let the fun begin!

Talked Nicky into letting you built a frame for it also EH, if it comes out anywhere near as good as Opy, it will be an awesome lil Jeep

Hey, I know that Jeep! Steering is better, but I think that was due more to the caster than anything else. The Clayton kit hangs pretty low under the frame rails, but I expected that draw back. I migh have to stop back over and bend the rear anti rock just a touch more, the bolts are rubbing the frame a little too much for comfort. She flexes way better than efore and the suspension seems to cycle much smoother than before.

Next adventure is coil overs for the front and longer spring for the back. (I should probably get that post Navy job secured 1st though)

Question for ya Kurt, I drove a Jeep with a Clayton long arm rear and a Clayton 3 link in front.
This thing without a rear swaybar was outright dangerous to drive. You could roll the thing at will, by just hitting the gas and making a slight turn at the same time. Massive roll steer, did the one you installed do that?
A Genright rear sway bar made it behave a lot better, but really limited flex.

                    Art,
The ride actually improved. I drove it before I did anything to it so I would have a reference. It has some serious body roll with the short arm RE stuff on there, and it had a rear track bar. After the install I drove the same course and at 70 MPH jerked the wheel back and forth to see if there was body roll. There is still some, but much less that before. I think the body roll is coming from the wrong shock application. The LJ is longer and heavier. Some heavier duty, stiffer shocks may take care of any roll that is left. And remember, he has Currie Anti rock front and rear.

Kurt, do you know which model of spintec muffler that was? It sounds great and was getting around pretty good at CB last weekend! Nice work.

                        Art,

The ride with the anti-rocks front and rear is actually slightly improved over the currie short arms with stock rear and front anti rock sway bars. There is a turn on my way to work I could lift the inside rear tire on if I tried before. With this kit and the anti rocks I haven't be able to do it yet, and I've been trying just to see if I can scare myself. The next time we're at a run together I'll let you hop in and take it for a spin if you want to give it a try.

I might take some measurements of it. Trying to figure out why this Jeep was so scary to drive

Basically he had a Clayton long arm kit that worked fine, then he had the front changed to a Clayton trilink
Also had a Spider 9 rear axle put in, after that you could make this thiong flop by hitting the gas and touching the steering felt like it had terrible rear roll steer. Then we added a rear Genright Sway bar which is very stiff. Where it flexed good onto one my 40" tires before now it will lift a rear tire about 6-8" of the ground. Would be nice to fix the cause of the roll steer and then use a lighter rear sway bar. The thing did good in the desert they were running 70- 80 mph in the desert having a ball.
Thing is my home built put put Jeep with just a Currie rear anti rock, behaves it self considerably better. Going to have him take measurements and figure out what is off

One of the guys in our club had issues with the front end lifting and being pretty scary at times. It turned out to be in the coil overs and how they were set up. Looks like you have Kings also. Give them a call. They are frequently out at Barstow on Wendesday's doing shock tuning. Since you live in Ontario, maybe you could make an appointment if things do not work out for you with a phone call.

ha! What's wrong with a little wheel in the air??? It just helps you perfect your driving technique!

On a serious note (so rare for me) I hope yall get it figured out. It looks like a sweet lil rig.. and would be a shame if you can't enjoy it with its full potential!

I love my JKS antirock sway bar in the front... just grab and twist it for off road... then twist it again for highway on the way home.

Mine works fine, this Jeep rode fine also till the rear axle got changed and a Clayton front 3 link got installed after that the thing would try to rear steer. As soon as you hit the gas and touched the steering wheel the rear end would try to flip the Jeep. You could romp on it going straight and all was well. Like I said during the raise he was doing stretches of desert at 80 mph so I doubt the king coilovers are to far of from where they need to be.
It has something to do with the roll axis angle (roll steer) of the rear suspension.
