Only two pictures tonight but a lot of progress. I had to work (real work) long time no shit today and only got a few hours on the CJ. The seat side bars and the front hoop are done. I still have to fit and tack the top bars, window bar and then take it out and weld it. I'm hoping that will get done tomorrow and Wednesday. Then I have to reinforce the floor at four places and the job is done.

Seat side bars- these tie in at the floor and to the front hoop with a connector.

Didn't get a pic of the hoop tonight that was worth posting. Tomorrow...

That A-pillar looks nice and close to the dash, rock on! :-D

I've got to get me a tube bender and some 220 power, that just looks like fun :-D

It is as close as I can get and still be able to take the cage out. I want to be done by Friday but it will depend on my job. It's pretty busy this week; I only had a few hours tonight and it looks like the same tomorrow. But I'll finish as quick as I can and hopefully not screw it up

                Don't scratch the paint bro!

                haha

Yes, being removable will be good, I'll be able to pop it off to paint it, and to weld on some tabs for mounting things.

Is there a fab trick in here I am missing?

No, you're not missing anything. The tube coming from the cage to the floor by the seats was called a "chamfer" in the tube bender's software when Kurt was putting it into the computer.

I'm guessing that means putting a beveled edge on the end of the tubes, maybe to ensure better weld penetration? Unless chamfer has a different meaning than it does in CG

(edit) nevermind, guess it does mean something different.

Hmmm, I thought he had some trick way to bevel the tube ends easily. Seems like a strange name for that tube, but I agree that they look good and offer some side protection.

Any ideas what else to do with the in-set area where the old gas tank filler used to be? Like maybe move the bottle opener into there instead of just bolted to the side.

I'll just leave it the way it is for now, but I'd eventually like to do something neat with it, since it's already there. Any ideas? Something functional, or even something that just looks cool (like maybe putting an old Willys logo in there)

Air powered mortar that can shoot potatoes or chaff depending on the situation.
