it's a great trail but i haven't run it since the fires. be prepared for a long day if there's traffic, it takes 3.5 hours to get through without stopping, it's over 20 miles long from end to end, and all moderate to difficult stuff. and then another 30-45 to get through hungry valley OHV area to the freeway entrance.

i vaguely remember where the entrance is off lockwood valley road, but we'll find it, and once you start on the trail it's pretty much one-track all the way to hungry valley.

hopefully it's not very wet or muddy back there...trust me. not a good trail for wet conditions. you'll see what i mean.

i'm still up in the air on this one, i'll let you all know tomorrow if i can make it.

just curious what you mean, hill climbs + mud = treacherous or just the mud bogs?

I'm pretty sure Mike means the first . . . hill climbs + mud = treacherous. Miller has some fairly steep and rocky areas that would be much more interesting, challenging, and yes possibly treacherous when wet. We should be okay based on the slight rain we received earlier this week which would just help to keep the dust down, but I do notice that Sat's weather report is showing cloudy conditions with a 20% chance of ran which could definitely mix things up a bit!

Count me in!!! And yes MrChips, there's always room for more . . . kinda like Jello (or is that J-Lo...hmmm) Don't wait up for me at Denny's as I'll probabally meet up with you at the Flying J @ 9am. I can get us to the trailhead and have a map and probably an extra if anyone would like one (the Ranger Station gives some pretty nice ones out for free). Remind me, what Channel will we be on?

rain makes the mud slick as ice, and also very dangerous on the shelf road portions.

Sorry to hear that you can't join us Mike.

Sounds like Highway420 (David) will probably be joining us in his Rubi Unlimited . . . we'll probably caravan up and meet you guys at the Flying J. Looks like we won't have to worry about any rain . . . now they're talking about a high wind advisory!
