Hey all just thinking about going up to Gorman for the day to flex the jeep and play around. My understanding is that Miller and Lockwood are closed, is that true? Just looking to meet new people, and to show some friends from school what this jeeping thing is all about. Thinking a late lunch/early dinner at the sizzlers then head back home.

    Forest Service Closures

Not just Miller and Lockwood. I wanted to explore the Alamo Mountain, Goldhill area but its all closed due to the Day Fire.

Here is a link to Forest Service closures in the area, roads that will be closed until July 2007 at least--

any other places reasonably close, or further south? I live in the Santa Monica Area so a trek to Big Bear is pretty far. I still think an easy half day at Hungry Valley will be fun.

I'm new to wheeling in SoCal. I'm from up north. I have read some trail reports here from rowher. How is it, where is it? Is it newbie friendly. I have some people coming out to see what wheeling is all about, not to interested in hurting their stuff. I could maybe show them parts of rowher. I'd love to go another time, and have someone really show me a round.

Last summer I did Miller/Lockwood with two guys from here and it was great, very friendly, and good time.

          Thanks, CJ

Im looking for a moderate/difficult trail for a day run on Friday. is friday not a good day for anyone to go? I was going to try and explore some of the trails near Dan Diego in my trail book. Two trails look pretty fun called Sidewinder and Bronco Peak. I think ill post a thread to see if anyone wants to go.

Friday normally would work fine. I'd be up for something Friday as long as I don't break anything for Saturday. Recently been breaking some things, so I'm looking to have a couple runs breakage free. Not sure I'm up for going all the way to San Diego, but if your up this way, I'm game.

                Thanks, CJ

cj we did a run not long ago from drinkwater to rowher and then into the staging area. most of its easy theres one tough spot on rowher but you can bypass it. the trail is in santa clarita let me know when you want to go i,ll see if i can make it.

sounds great. Let me know when might work for you and I can see, Fri-Sundays are obviously good for me. Tuesdays as well. How long a run is drinkwater to rowher? I'm assuming a 3/4 day run. I don't have any camping gear out here with me so I'm stuck to day runs. Thanks man, I look forward to checking out the trail.

sounds great, I think that'd be fun.

For those who still want to meet Sat. I'll be there making sure everything works on the jeep and showing some friends around.

Drinkwater is a great trail to show a guest what 4wheeling is all about, not to scary, very scenic, closer than Gorman.

thats an idea. I think one of them can only come Saturday, and I know Steve can only go Sunday. Would a stock two door, short bed toyota pickup that has 31"'s be able to make it? (my friend's truck) Thank you for the input. I def. would love to go Sunday and see a new trail. Maybe I can get my friends to do Sunday. thanks again.

As long as it's a 4X4 he should have not problem. Drinkwater Trail which is off San Francisquito will connect to Deer Trail which takes you over to Bouquet Canyon Road.
