info on the historic ridge route...

the road has been closed to the public since damage caused by winter storms in 2005. I found the locked gate last year when trying to explore it a bit by myself.
recently I stumbled across dates for workdays to help reopen the road, the next is March 17th. I figured with all my adopt-a-trail and calico experience a guy like me couldn't pass this up. :yay:
these are some notes from a previous gathering...
We are asking everyone to bring work gloves, a sack lunch and one or more of the tools listed below. Bottled water and restroom facilities will be provided by RRPO. As in the past, Santana's Pumping & Plumbing of Frazier Park is donating the use of the portable restroom.
Tools needed:
*shovel
* hoe
* rake
* wheelbarrow
* push broom
* prunning shear
* pole prunner
* prunning saw
DRESS: The elevation is 4,000 feet and the temperature will probably be in the 80s so dress appropriately and bring sun screen. We work in full compliance with Angeles Forest and have been granted permission to extend our repairs beyond that portion of the road that is closed and "off limits to the public."
NOTE: During the dry season, smoking is not allowed in the forest.
Safety of our workers is our number one priority so we ask that you wear appropriate work clothes and shoes. Workers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Since we are in the National Forest there will be no smoking during the workday. We hope to complete this phase by 3 or 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon
and about the march 17th date...
We will be performing three types of work:
1. Removing rocks that have fallen onto the road during the last few storms.
2. Placing markers at the drains we have already cleaned out.
3. Finding new drains and cleaning them out.
Please bring appropriate tools and a sack lunch. Our Porta-potty Princess will be on duty. We will meet at Carl Jr’s in Gorman at 9:00 a.m.
Of course, this will be more of a scenic work day than a trail ride so expect that. It might be a good idea to bring a pickup truck (if you've got one) instead of your Jeep.
please sign the roll call if your interested in attending. :cone:
