those of you interested in attending this rookie run, please pm myself and brian (blktj) your rig info, and spare parts list.

just to reiterate, there is a ZERO tolerance for drinking on the trail. none, zip, zilch, nada. this goes for passengers as well as drivers. you are welcome to drink yourself into a stooper when we get back to camp, so long as you are nice about it.
if you are not comfortable with this, than this is not for you.

as stated by brian, we will do our best to see you through with no cosmetic damage to your rig, nor broken parts, but this is no guarantee by any stretch of the imagination, and yu have to be willing to accept the damage with a smile.

please be thorough with your rig specs, especially drive line, gearing, and steering info.

      lets get this thing going!

          no date yet.
it will likely not be posted on the public forum as to prevent people from just "showing up" unprepared for the run.

I want to go real bad...I have 33s so trail selection is important for me.

Edit: Sorry I didn't understand that the date would not be posted.

as stated in a previous post, the date will likely not be posted in open forum so people don’t just show up with rigs incapable of making the trail, and creating a huge headache repairing jeeps on the trail, or the embarrassment of having to reject someone from the run whom was not on the list of invited jeepers.

mrblaine started this whole rookie run thing some time ago. Since then, there is a core group of us that help to organize this thing, and see that it moves along the trail.

pm your rig specs and spares to myself and Brian, and we'll see about getting you on the list. I’m sure you are set up, Paul, but none the less we need the list and specs.

At this time, this is a preliminary list, and essentially a feeler to check interest.

the trails chosen will be decided on when we have the list put together.

Yes, there will be a Rookie Run this season.

Let's define the purpose a bit more clearly as it's already been touched upon a bit by others.

We do a RR to introduce those who think they may want to step up in difficulty level, to the Trails in JV.

This gives you an opportunity to get as much help as it takes to get you over the trail with the least amount of damage to both you and your rig.

If you would like to leave your rig in camp and just go along for the ride, speak up and get the arrangements made with someone who is going. We won't organize it for you, but we do encourage and enjoy new folks coming along for the ride. Do not show up without securing an empty seat from someone.

Our crew is highly experienced in getting rigs over the trails out there. We work together very well and do our best to ensure everyone has a good time with the least amount of hassle. We have no expectations, so no one need worry about looking bad or their experience level. We take raw beginners to the sport around out there frequently with no issues or problems. However, that has taught us a few hard lessons equipment wise, so we have a few rules we won't bend on.

                            No stock Dana 35's.

Stock axleshafts are welcomed if you show us your spare sets.

Stock steering is welcomed if you show us your spare set.

                            Hard lockers front and rear.

33" tires minimum and be aware if too many show up, we will downgrade our trail selection to accomodate. 35's are preferred and MT/R's or equivalent.

Winches are not required but are highly welcomed. If you have no winch, please bring a recovery strap, a tree saver, a pair of anchor shackles (D-rings) that work with your rig's mandatory recovery points

A couple of caveats. If you have a manual transmission and a stock transfer case, be prepared for a very long day. Be certain your clutch and battery are in good shape. They will both get a serious work-out.

If you don't have a steering cooler, get one. You can run without one, but you won't like it much.

We have a zero tolerance policy for alcohol outside of camp. In and around camp, enjoy to your heart's content, but if you plan on drinking and driving, don't.

A word to the wise though, if you are prone to hangovers, be aware that alcohol and the desert will dehydrate you miserably and you will most likely not enjoy the next day if you drink too much the night before the run. We don't babysit or offer sympathy for self inflicted pain as we find it quite entertaining.

The trail will be determined by the current trail condition vs. number of rigs and equipment levels thereof. We pre-run the day before and withhold final selection until all factors are considered.

Now for the bad news- It doesn't look like we will be able to schedule any time between now and the first of the year.

We will be in JV from Nov 19 through the 26. That closes out any dates between now and then.

We are booked for the 10th of December, and the 1st and 2nd are too close to returning from a week out there to go back that soon.

That leaves the weekend after the 10th which is the final shopping weekend before Christmas, so although we could do it, I doubt many others can. Take out Christmas and New Years the week following and we are looking at the middle of January as the soonest date unless someone has a brilliant idea.

I'm sure I'll think of more as this progresses.
