I was hoping to drive the rv out friday afternoon, but it looks like that won't happen. So I am going to drive it out Saturday morning, is everyone ok with starting a bit later than normal, 9:30-10:30 range? It might take me a bit to get parked and set up. I am going to try and park on the first flat area by the rocks, if that spot is full I will go around to the second campsite.

I have spare chevy and ford 44 outers, stock though.

I'm fixed and ready to go. Were do you want to meet and what time? I have spare stock axles for it. I broke a Cromolly shaft. I did want to take it apart twice.

Jonah, what route are you taking there? Want to meet somewhere along the way? We're both coming from a similar part of town. I can hold 55-60 pretty good.

Glad to hear you got the new shafts in, breaking chromos - you must have been having some fun at the Hammers. What axle shafts are you running? I just put together a front 44 with USA Standard 4340 shafts.


I take the 91 up to the 15 normally, Unless the 91 is really bad, then I will cut up the 57. Do you go out the 105 to the 57?

Does anyone have any particular trail/obstacles they want to do. I am going to try to make up a plan in the next couple of days, but I always get turned around out there. I may have some waypoints saved somewhere.

I found my waypoints for "Hard Rock", "Hammerdown/Hole in the Wall" is easy to spot, but if you have a good "Cakewalk/BullFrog" track I will take it. Thanks!

Ok I know were that spot is. I know the area pretty well so we won't get lost. I would like to see what you come up with. It's always fun to run a trail in a different way. I run Yukon 4340 shafts it took 16 yrs of hard wheelin to break it. I was doing a light front dig when I let off the gas it snapped. It has one heck of a twist in it.

I've camped near there, but not at that spot before. Looks easy to find though.

I'm thinking we'll drive out early Saturday instead of late Friday. I'll have the wife and kids (6 and 7 YO) with me. I've run bits and pieces of the trails out there. I'm not sure how long of a day the family will put up with, so we might skip out early afternoon and head back to camp to fly kites or something, we'll head home Sunday.

Never heard of Hard rock or hole in the wall. I know were hammerdown and Chicken rock are.

Yeah, I am going to head up Saturday morning. No family for me this time, camping solo. Looking forward to sitting around the campfire.

Hammerdown is a "trail" made up my mkjeepers a few years ago. It is just a loose collection of fun obstacles out there. Here is a mess .gpx file of it if you are interested:

Hammerdown (aka, Hole in the Wall) runs into the hills between the campsite and chicken rock, loops around and comes out behind chicken rock. It is a short but fun trail.

Last time I ran Hammerdown was 3yrs ago. That would be a good start if everyone is up for it. I'm planning on being there for the whole day, it is in my back yard. So are you thinking 9:30 or closer to 10:30. Craig

I think since we are all driving up Saturday morning, I would say 10:30. The rv always takes a bit longer than I think it should.

Hammerdown is a great place to start.
