Looks like your sentence is missing some words, what part of the trail are you referring to? All the down trees North of Lakecamp?

Also thanks everyone for all the good comments, funny stuff.

This has happened to the toilets at Swamp, Brewer, and Spanish(Spanish pictured).

It's the reason for this change, done at two Dusy locations so far.

Looks great. The table is awesome! Thanks for doing the heavy lifting to get this done. I plan to make use of them next summer.

All the down trees North of Lakecamp? Yup those, somebody said it was some really high winds two years ago?

Yeah, when my sons and I walked through last year to assess the trail we were the first to see it. There were 85 trees total on the trail, I think 45 of those were in the half mile Northbound of the creek at Lakecamp lake. It was the worst any of us had seen on any trail.

It's a sad sight all these mature healthy trees knocked over. We have a trail here that used to be absolutely gorgeous, then it burned and got closed down. Then after years of hard volunteer work it got reopend, which is great, still it's missing all the beautiful green it used to have.

Imagine walking through when the trail is still closed and having to go around and over, under all that mess. It wasn't easy finding the trail. When we got to the creek at Lakecamp I said "we're here already?" The whole area landscape changed and didn't look familiar. Because of my info the clearing crew went in with lots of saws and fuel, they thought. When we came in behind them the first thing they wanted to know was if we brought chainsaw fuel. Even though I described the situation in detail, they really couldn't fathom it until they saw it.

Installed a new toilet at Mallard Lake over the weekend.

The prefabbed facility was picked up from the Forest Service work center by one trailer and taken to the trailhead, then it was distributed one wall per trailer.

Volunteers dug a hole half way down and ran into 3 big rocks, then Forest Service showed up and dug a new hole.

Putting in the bolts that hold the corners together.

Getting ready to repair a wall that was damaged on the way in.

Holding the front wall in place while it gets attached.

                    Shimming before tightening the bolts.

                    Installing hurricane ties.

                    Installing windows.

                    Installing drip edges.

Installing wire to keep marmots out. We usually use a heavier wire, but this was brought by mistake. It will be replaced with heavier wire later.

                    Putting the right blade on.

Cutting the hole for the louvered vent.

                    Installing roofing.

                    Painting front posts.

Touch up painting a spot that was damaged on the way in.

                    Finished.

                    The crew.

                    The photographer.

                    The cook.

                    Location, looking Southbound.

                    Location, Northbound.

                    The carnage.

A group from Washington State was happy to provide a replacement box they had with them.

                        Thanks.
Have you done the trail? Or have plans to? They are now spaced pretty good along the trail, this one is half way in to Ershim Lake from the North end of the trail. Used to be you had to go the eleven miles in to Ershim Lake before the first toilets.

Unfortunately that's one we never got to before leaving CA last year. But it's on the list for sure, one day!

Nice to see the funds from the Outstanding Trail program being used on these.
                            Great program from BFG.

We've had people come from out of state, Washington State, Canada, Utah and Arizona come to mind. It's a beautiful trail for sure.

Yeah, wouldn't have happened without them. We're hoping it will reduce white flowers and spread out camping more, instead of everyone concentrating where the toilets "were".
