Over the weekend, I got suckered into watching a fun-but-cheesy show on Science Channel called "Mantracker". There was an episode in Big Bear, looked like they followed 2N02 from near the Rose Mine down towards Rattlensnake Canyon area. The "runners" spent the night near a very cool looking mine that I did not recognize. It had a very large quarried out entrance. Additionally, the hunters rode their horses past a completely unprotected and unmarked vertical shaft that I have never seen before in that area.

I checked and the Episode (#5) is not on Hulu, but you can see the large mine entrance in the teaser video:
