  • Trail Report: SledgeHammer fun and carnage

Mike invited, 100dollarman, Chuck13, ratpatrol, Flatout and me for a run on Sledgehammer today.
Some of us had a ball and actually completed the trail and yes it was hot and superbly rocky. Mike broke his front trackbar that needed welding and the Texan Pipewelder ripped his truss of the rear axle so that chewed up most of the day for that part of the group.
After completing the trail Fred and me went back to see how we could help the stranded travelers. What to Say the stuff got welded right this time and the driveshaft got fixed and the Jeep made it out with any firther problems. So some had fun and some unfortunately had a rough day.Fred had fun unleashing his new Pitbulls on the rocks and I did my usual thing rockdancing where needed, man I love this stuff. Well I got up at 5am and am tired so here is a link to the pics I took

That was a freaking blast! The axle went back together and will get redone sometime in the near future. Got some different stuff to try out and see what works. Thanks to Chuck for the use of his ready welder, Mike for his battery and come along, and everybodys patience. Hey, what can I say? Next time! :thumbs_up

Some bad luck on the carnage Mike and Kurt. But looks like the rest had some good fun. Sorry I had to miss it.

I wish that you could have joined us. But I am really glad that your own carnage didn't take you out of the game!

For the folks that were able to join in on the run, thanks a bunch for joining me for the challenge! I wish that I had made it through the trail, but that wasn't the way that the Rock Gods wanted it. But then again, there is always NEXT time!

The famous Hammers sign has taken some damage over the years, but it still is telling it's tale:

The fun stuff on the trail starts very quickly. I wish that had made it further than about the first third of the way through the trail before carnage struck me. Regardless and quite clearly, Chuck had some serious fun until carnage struck Kurt and I:

            I had some troubles:

But about the time that I thought that things were in my favor, my track bar gave up the ghost:

Getting ready to weld the track bar back together (I can't see a thing, I was following Sharon's voice to even be looking in the right direction for this pic:

            Actually welding:

            Chuck, making it look easy:

I crawled up the first falls surprisingly well, but things could have gone better at the top:

After I winched myself up, Kurt was on a great line before the nasty POP!:

            No Bueno. Just Sayin'.

Winches and Come-Alongs got things back to position:

After some repairs, We were able to head back down Sledgehammer to get back to Means Lake:

I had some serious sidewall and slider fun getting back down the trail:

All-in-all, it was a tough day for some of us, but ANY day on the trail is still better that a day just surfing 'Jeep Porn' on the net!, just sayin'!

First of Curtis hope you are doing better soon, so you can come out and play with us again.
Kurt I hope you are not to sore from frolicking under your Jeep on those hard rocks. It was a good day with good friends regardless of the time spend repairing and what not, would have been fun to make a go of Jackhammer also, but then there is also the next time, we will just put Fred in front and have him tow us through all the trails with Badass Betsy

                    Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Kurt, looks like you put the 37s on?

Man, the plaque sure got stacked.

We were out on Sat and ran Spooners with no problems. Stu, Mike Wickham and me.

I sure hope the temperature will drop about 10 degrees by next weekend.
