• Trail Run: Johnson Valley Run

I was thinking of doing a run on some of the lesser traveled Johnson Valley trails.

We could start with Awesome canyon, south of the 247, then head north over to Means Dry lake through the sand dunes and run the Fissure Mt trail from east to west. This trail is rated a 3+ by the VV4W's...John Bull is rated a 4 to 4+. If there is time we could go over the Fry Mts (which pose a satisfactory challenge) to Anderson Dry lake and Camp Rock Rd.

These trails are rated difficult, but certainly not extreme. Awesome canyon is probably the toughest ( see Mitch's recent post). The Fissure Mt trail is a very scenic route through the Hammer trail system.

Hey John I was hoping you would go. Why don't you email Yaz, Roy and Wally too.

I was thinking of pre-runnung Fissure Mt Thursday if time permits.

There are a ton of mines over near Aftershock, but Mitch, I'm sure you've been in every one of them already, right? This will be a cool run; I wondered around out there on Christmas Day last year and got myself caught in a bitchin snow storm. Spent the night out there roughin it.

Well hopefully we won't encounter any snow this time. So do you know of any mines in the area Mitch. I know of a couple on the east side of the mountain there.

You know the Fissure mt trail is the long exit for sledgehammer. If Mitch goes he'll probably force us to do sledge. I'll be your spotter
