We already know who has adopted the trail and several have already attempted to prod them into doing some work to get it open and in fact, there was a recon day scheduled a couple of months back to fix up the trail and install a gate or barrier so at least a major portion of the trail and several off shoots would be open, but the AAT Club decided to cancel the event and we were told that they wanted it to be a “Club ONLY” event. We had a ton of volunteers ready to pitch in and get the trail open, but here we are a couple of months later and the trail still remains closed. Unfortunately, it appears as if many here on MJR (without special AAT access to the trail) are more concerned and more willing to do what is necessary to get it open than the club that has adopted the trail.

Is this a meeting to discuss the trail or has the Recon run been rescheduled and that's the meeting place/time? I tried to find info on the link, but didn't see anything.

Joe, I see Nick sent you a PM and don't know what he told you, but the AAT Program is very strict with those clubs that volunteer, and set rules for being AAT are firm. I know how frustrating it is to want to help and not be able too, but be patient if you can. You aren't seeing alot of what is going on behind the scenes with Point Mugu and the FS. I'm pretty sure they are doing what they can to get you guys out there. And thanks to you and everyone else for being so eager to help.

I hope you are right . . . but it sure would be nice if someone would keep us in the loop as to what is happening, as from the outside, it looks like a whole lot of nothing. That's really the point of this thread, to find out what's happening and what we can do to pitch in and get it open faster. Sorry if I seem impatient, but this is the best trail in the only local area we have left.

I feel your pain Joe. I love Miller; it's a great trail. You are probably already going on Pt. Mugu's site for info, but if not, that's a good a place as any to see if they're posting info.

This is not an open invitation.

This is a Point Mugu 4x4 Club work day with the Forrest Service. The trail still remains closed until further notice. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Can anyone provide additional information? :dunno: I'm pretty sure we all know that the trail is closed until further notice, but things like . . . . what's being done about it, when it will be reopened, etc . . . sure would be nice to hear . . . especially seeing that these meetings and work days are not "an open invitation". Am I the only one that finds it surprizing that nobody from the AAT Club, cares comment on what is actually being done?

I tried to search the Point Mugu 4x4 site for information. Appartently they have a new website . . . www.pointmugu4x4.org . . . unfortunately that site doesn't work either.

I have been talking to Bill Salka the liaison for the Point Mugu 4x4 Club. He said that the reason it is still closed is because they are logging at the Dutchman Camp at the top of Miller Jeep Trail. They were supposed to be done already but have run into delays. Thus keeping Lockwood and Miller Jeep Trail Closed. The Forrest Service is really wanting this to be open for all to enjoy!

Because Point Mugu 4x4 Club is the main sponsor of the trail....The Forrest Service only wants us on the trail for the work party. (politics ad usual) I will keep you all informed as soon as I hear anything.

Pt Mugu AAT Trail is Lockwood
                              Axle snappers is Yellow jacket
                              Frazier 4x4 is Miller
All great clubs but the politics of it all just sucks.
I guess we need to adopt the different off shoot trails like Cotton Wood or maybe sponser Sunset Camp

There is always a way to help out.

But the contact information is correct so do we see if us people in the north rally and do that or have a wait and see attitude.

Because the SBNF is a far away ATT program in a totally different NF.

I think there is enough people to go around and help.
The bottom line is that we all do not like trail closures.
And we here on MJR do want to make a difference.

                                To answer you Josh

I am the black sheep of the club because I made a big stink about this.
All I wanted to do was to get the trail open.
Last year I organized a work detail.

                                http://www.myjeeprocks.com/forums/sh...t=miller+recon

It was a work detail also.
What was the difference then we had many members from MJR come in to help.
                                So I dont know.
