Well I got to about 200 yards just shy of Means Lake Bed. Looked around to a good camp site, came back to the motorhome and would not start. Took the steering column apart to check the wiring, all the fuses, relays, banged on the starter and end up with this. Got to the location about 10 AM and end up in Cathedral City by 5PM, just in time before the dealer closed. Made it back to lake by late night and crashed with another friend. Good wheeling on Satruday. All was not lost.

Here are the pics of me and my Dad out on Jack Hammer on Saturday.

      URL: http://gallery.me.com/gijoel/100302

      They should be uploaded shortly.

Out of 14 Rigs starting the trail only 6 made it to the top. We should have known it would be bad when the Trail Leader broke a U-Joint 100' into the trail.

Total Bill: 2 U-Joints, 1 Axle, 1 Ring and Pinion, and various other dents and dings.

We went out on Friday afternoon and were very pleased with the organization and competence of the event. The Safety Inspection actually jacked up my jeep to check and see if I actually had lockers. thats kewl. Unfortunately when we hooked up to the truck to tow the Jeep Back home, we found we had developed the dreaded "DEATH WOBBLE". let me tell you a 90mile tow at 30 miles/hour starting at 7pm after getting up at 530 and working your butt off getting your jeep up Jack makes a long day. Hopefully I will be able to diagnose the problem.

Have fun, and Many tanks to VVFW for putting on an awesome event.

      Joel

Sledge was a blast this weekend. I broke my Dana super 30 u-join helping the guy in front of me when he was stuck on last waterfall before the mailbox. Since I couldn’t salvage the axle I decided to continue to running in three wheel drive. Made it out of there with the help from the guys from the Company Gen-Right. Thanks guys!

I was there with you! How did you break it? When you were tugging on him was your wheel straight or turned?
