It developed a high idle and throws an IAC code. I checked the IAC and its working fine. Must be a vacuum leak but I can't find it so I decided to replace the upper gasket set. Thought it was a good time to check things out. I found a crack in the distributor so I'm putting in an after market aluminum one.

Good way to find vacuum leaks, is to spray it all down with a can of brake cleaner while idling that or use a can of propane cut the end of the birner and atach some vacuum hose then go around everything while you let some propane come out. You'll find the leak pretty quick that way. Wherever the idle changes is the leak

Already did that plus the pressurized soap test. No luck.

That sucks, and idle vacuum is ok on a vacuum gauge or map sensor voltage which is essentially the same.
Couled be some other quirk that makes it idle faster than it should

I think that the Jeep just gets excited when it see's Chuck, you know like the racing heart thing! The Jeep is thinking, "Oh boy I get to stick my front wheel way up in the air again"!!!

Hey guys. New to Jeepin but not offroading. I was wondering if my rig is up to snuff for this run. It's a 98 5sp, 4.0L, 3.73's, 33x12.50 AT's, Dana 44, 3.5" RE. Stock skids.

My Jeep cost's me more than my wife...

But! with those tires, be sure to bring an air compressor to air back up with. Any lockers? You won't need them on this trail, but I'm just curious.

I'm a little confused on the trail run being proposed...is it starting in Big Bear, going down Heartbreak to Rattlesnake Canyon?

Or is it starting and Rattlesnake and going up as high as you can in the snow?

                          Nathan,

Sorry for the confusion. This post is for a Saturday Big Bear run to Heartbreal Ridge.

I am doing a different run with Roger and a few others tomarrow (Friday) that hijacked in the middle of this thread.

Thanks Mitch. I'm not too sure I can make this Saturday run. My Jeep has a real strong tendency to go unpredictably sideways in the snow. Must be the driver :-)

I'd be willing to do Rattlesnake and work my up as far as possible though. First though, I need to check the weekend schedule with the wife.
