  • Trail Run: Achy Breaky / Pumpkin Eater Evening run

Going to do an evening run on Achy Breaky and Pumpkin Eater trails, Saturday August 9th. I figure we can meet at Del Taco on Lenwood road off of the 15fwy @ 6pm and go from there. The trails are not long, but they can be rough, and we will finish the evening by going up to one of the peaks for a nice starry overlook of the High Desert. It will start out hot, but should cool down a little by sundown. I'm going to bring my Daughter along, so kids are a + .

    so who's interested?

You guys have fun and be safe.

Lenwood road is after Victorville, but before Barstow, on the 15fwy, commonly known as the 'Barstow Outlet Center' there are gas stations and fast food joints, and lots of 'outlet stores'

I am going to say yes, I did both of these years ago with open diffs and 32" MTR's in my YJ... you might have some 'trouble' but it will be the exciting kind... I am not going to say that anyone can't go. I remember being told that I couldn't do this or that trail without lockers, and then doing the trails anyways. I am not gonna say that you wont get some damage, or need a tug w/ a strap, maybe some winch action, but then again, I never did... I'm going with, point is, you will get through the trail one way or the other, it will be fun, and it's not the jeep as much as the driver that get you through the trail.

'Amen!' on the Driver vs. Jeep statement. I REALLY want to go on this run. I think that I can work it out, but it will probably be without my co-pilot.

Pumpkin Eater requires being locked in both diffs & a winch, imho. 35" tires recommended.

you will be fine with yer 33" and that winch Jim, we will spot anyone that wants a spotter and take as much time as we need to git everyone through. Most trails become complicated by the 'rush' of a long line of jeeps. This is a light run that will end as a night run and it's close enough to town so if someone runs outta time, they can head out whenever. I plan on wheelin' untill my daughter wants to go home, and she has been asking me to take her back out on the trail every night for weeks. Heck, my jeep didn't want to start this morning because it's been sitting so long. A quick bump fixed that. Note to self: Drive jeep to werk weekly!

                              Hey Jesse,
Vincent and I would love to go on this run!
But I'm runnin open diffs & 32's, 3:07's in the pumpkins.
I've read the whole string and I know you don't want to say no to anyone, but...

I don't have a problem with baggin' my Jeep around. Or being tugged though a spot or two. But I don't think I would want to be dragged through the whole trail. That would suck for everyone else.
                              What doya think?
