Just got back from Big Bear. We ran Gold Mountaina dn about 200 yards of John Bull but we had to turn back because there was a group of 11 Jeeps in front of us and we weren't able to wait.

    The weather was awesome :thumbs_up

Can't wait for tomorrow. See yall at the Discovery center at 9:00am.

Stock Liberty's?!?! No way, they were all modded up!!

There were two that were on 2.5" lifts and 30.5's but they had a good time!

One above is locked rear w/ LS front and 4.10s and he did real well w/ a lot of cheering on.

Hey, BTW, Sorry we were slow going in a couple spots, we were tryign our darndest to get those KJ's through on their own power and only one had to take a winch when they got good and stuck in the process. I wondered a couple times if you guys were Ok since we never saw you catch up again.

No need to be sorry. We turned back on Friday because we had to get back to the wives since we had to be in Big Bear all day Saturday.

                                A few pictures

When I arrived at the Discovery Center parking lot shortly before 9:00 am, the parking lot was nearly full; several other clubs were meeting there and planning runs to the Gold Mountain and John Bull trails. We had thirteen rigs in our group.

                                WranglerWrench (white TJ)

                                Russ Chung (khaki TJ)
We decided to skip Gold Mountain and head to the east end of John Bull. We got to the trailhead shortly after 10am. I was tail gunning, so I only got pictures of the Jeeps near the back of the pack.

We had just gotten past the gatekeeper when the call came over the CB for anyone who has a tie rod end puller. Curtis had slipped off a rock and snapped his heavy duty tie rod where it attached to the drag link:

There were enough threads remaining in the broken tie rod that he was able to reattach the rod end and continue the run.

The group had a lot of difficulty with this section of the trail. The rocks were covered with fine dust and the holes and ruts between the rocks were gouged out by the hundred or so vehicles that have used the trail in the past week. Despite MrBash's spotting, avjeepfreek needed a strap from Curtis:

jkpirate got high centered, but winched himself off the obstacle:

After stopping for lunch near the summit, we continued down the west side of the trail and finished at about 2:30 pm.
