i don't really have any pics but i just want to say that i had a really great time meeting some of the new people, and wheeling with old friends! was definitely a great weekend had by all, especially our nice little "sunday afternoon surprise" hill descent!
didn't pick up too much trash but i guess some is better than none. hopefully the area stays fairly clean in the future.

Me neither, but I did use the canvas bag for laying down in the dirt while I hooked my sway bar and track bar back up for the drive home. That bag is now a permanent part of my "Trail Kit".
All of the easily accessable areas were already spotless by the time we got there on Saturday. The trash bins didn't even fill up. Was the desert really that clean? Was it still that clean from last year?? I didn't see a single abandoned car or shot up kitchen appliance.

There was alot of people this year, and the trails were not that bad.. I think the word is getting out and I think that last year we cleaned up 20 years worth of thrash and this year we just cleaned up 1 years worth... I mean if it is gonna be an annual event, you gotta know that there is not gonna be as much junk as the first year. I think its good though, I enjoyed not having to pick up so much crap. we still did fill about 7 burlap sacks and put some old furniture stuff in the back of a toyota we had on the trail... so there was still alot to do.
The best part of it all is my 'lil girl being able to ask her jeep hating tree hugger teacher, "what did you do for the earth this weekend? My daddy and I took the devil jeep to calico and picked up trash..."
I still wonder why these clean ups allways seem to be organized by jeepers and boyscouts instead of enviornmentalists and teachers...
:gun: my rifle is not illegal, it's just undocumented... :gun:

It is because they are too good to clean up after others and would rather just bitch about it?
That said, I gotta bitch a little about the area I ended up at. We worked the area near the restuarant by the 15 fwy and boy did that suck. I am not complaining about the work so much as the location. I didn't even get to see a trail and all we were cleaning was trash blown from the restuarants and gas station, etc. into the desert. Oh, and also the trash left behind by the truckers and homeless guy living in the bushes. That area will still need work in another couple months and lots of attention by next year. I guess it is BLM land and it too needs our help but in the future I see more people needing to end up there instead of anywhere near the actual Calico trails since I think they will get taken better care of because of this event. I heard many comments that day that people would be looking to get on an actual trail to help clean up next year. It is a shame the source of the litter, the restuarants and businesses in that area, can't be held responsible to clean up their own mess.
Ok, rant off....I feel a little better now and am ready to clean up whatever, wherever next year.
this sounds like a chamber of commerce issue... the chamber should be taxed... Er, asked to help out next year... I am suprised that I did not hear anything from any of the local chambers this year, :dunno: I know we bring money in when we do these events...

Being that it was my first time up there, and at night, I didn't even get hung up once!!
Anyway, not all the pics came out great, but some are pretty nice.
Almost looks like cave driving...
Looks like he's disappearing into the hill...:omg:
I think this is when Eric's dog was playing hide and seek with Joe's Jeep.:hide::omg:This might of been the famous 'oil pan stop'.

I wouldn't bitch about not seeing the trail... The rest of the MJR group didn't really get any trail time for the cleanup either. Unless you consider Mule Canyon a trail. I never did, and definitely don't now because we saw a CRV that made it through (although sliced a sidewall).
Glad you got your rant out though, and thanks for helping! See you out there next year. :thumbs_up
